What are apartment painting costs like here?

Looking to paint a roughly 60 square metre apartment. Might do it myself but if the costs are reasonable maybe get someone else to do it.

How much would a painter charge for such a job? Any recommendations?

Take a chair, place near the phone, then call a a painter. Then decide to do it yourself.

Expensive, like anything.

My educated guess about 7k. You can do the first coat yourself and get a pro to do the second coat.

Re: What are apartment painting costs like here?

we are also looking for something similar to paint an apartment of around 120 m2.

we are yet to receive a formal quote but some swiss friends have told us , it would be around 3k to 4k.

also the apartment is fairly new, around 5 years and does not need so much of filling etc.

We have been to Bauhaus and the material cost, even if you buy good quality paints are not more than 400 francs on the higher side, we are planning to do the same ourselves, Hope we are able to do it, without much mess

Similar? Your area is double ours Painting is hard work I can tell you that. I did our current flat and for weeks after I was having paint related nightmares.

Migros has a really nice white paint. One coat does the job. Repaired areas needed couple of coats though. Coop one was very runny and not as white. There are lot of paints so choose wisely.

It's really crap paint too vs the stuff you get in the UK. Have a mate who runs a house conversion business in France and actually drives large stocks of white emulsion back with him from UK trips. Cheaper and coats so much better.

No kidding. I've experienced that, very much so. And is there such a thing as non-drip gloss in France? (My local hardware store - as well as being expensive, wasn't very helpful.) Next spring/summer I'm going to do quite a bit more painting but this time I'm getting the paint and tools shipped over from the UK. Especially non-drip gloss for the kitchen.

Re: What are apartment painting costs like here?

When i drive home i always ask my friends what they would like back. We have a range rover so people tend ot request more than the usual Brown Sugar & sausages.. Nearly at the top of the list is white paint!!

FYI - Top of the list is cider. Bulmers! (English version - Magners)

Re: What are apartment painting costs like here?

The paint available through hardware stores here is pretty average. I used http://tel.search.ch/?was=malbera&firma=1 Malbera paint which is made in Uetikon an See ZH, great paint, covers well and about the same price as quality paint in Australia, you pay by the kilo but when you pick up a pot (10 litre) you know you have a pot of paint!! I also had to do a dodgey cheap job inside a workshop and bought white paint from Landi which was not too bad.
