Parquets and wood panelling

So excited about our new oak floors in all rooms downstairs and the wood panelling in one bedroom. Not easy in this old house where walls and rooms are irregular, with pipes, recesses, etc. He came with us to nearby France to choose and buy all materials.

Thank goodness for Mike (as in MikeandDzet here on EF) - our wonderful carpenter from Glascow. He is fully registered for work here in Neuchatel, and fully equipped to tackle anything, experience and very friendly with gsoh!

Not the fastest- but a stickler for precision and good finish which for us is so much more important - and very reasonable rates. We'd recommend him highly.

Sitting in the lounge with half the room done (office finished already) and we are grinning from ear to ear - looks brilliant.

Ash would have been cheaper.

32 Euros per square metre - and it looks fab. Not sure beech would have been much less. Of course we took VAT off that and paid Swiss VAT- so quite a bit less in reality.

Re: Parquets and wood panelling

A fair few big Ash being felled at the moment, back in Blighty ...... but probably a bit soon for the surplus to be reflected in the prices.

Re: Parquets and wood panelling

Sound wonderful, now don't forget the maintenance!! I use www.adler-lacke.com for all my furniture and find it a great product, but as always only use cleaning product compatable with the original oil applied to the timber, WOKA is good as well (available from www.hiag.ch)
