Can anyone recommend a company that can rip out an old kitchen. I've just had a quote from a company for CHF 1,900. Not even going to bother to sound surprised, just determined to shop around
put an ad up on some french sites like http://www.leboncoin.fr: free kitchen, buyer removes. We got ours out like that for free - actually as we had an almost new dishwasher, the buyer even paid us a few hundred for it.

Well, you need a hammer and few similar tools, and there you go!
I have ripped off my kitchen, several years ago, and it was <2h job. Ok, perhaps <4. The difficult(ish) part is to throw away all those rubbish, but you can take 2-3 trips to rubbish disposal place.
All in all - this will cost you very little, and you will have great sense of achievement!

I will look into this, I'm just very short on time as I work in ZH so don't get home till about 8ish
I have ripped out a couple of kitchens in the past ( and bathrooms and dividing walls and...) The kitchen fittings are the easy part - just the thing to keep you occupied for a couple of hours on a cold, wet weekend. Any woman could do it.

Here is the offending kitchen... I know, I could live with it but 'er indoors wants it out.
However I think you can all agree that its particularly well fitted, so not exactly an afternoon's work

Yes it is. JUst think of it as a jigsaw puzzle to be taken apart. HOwever, looking at the amount and apparent quality, I now suggest you go with an earlier option given by someone - get in the professional who will actually pay you a bit, so they can take the kitchen away to resell.

We also got our kitchen like that, took a Saturday afternoon to take it apart.... remembering to label and diagram where everything went/fitted together. Stove top/extractor/oven/dishwasher/fridge included.
The building firms who trash before installing new give their workers the option of "rescuing" what they want, before just ripping it out and throwing into mulders.
Lots of guys working for builders take the old kitchens apart and then take them home to their countries in Europe in their holidays .... to sell.
A little bit of advertising?

OK, what I'll do as a first step is advertise the entire kitchen on Ricardo (inc the V-Zug Oven, steamer, dishwasher, extractor and fridge). Its completely free, but the recipient needs to dismantle and collect. I'll give it a fortnight, and then Plan B - EF event with pizzas and sledgehammers

I vote for plan B, if you are asking. I haven't destroyed anything in almost a week
