| | moving/cleaning company recommendation [ZH]
I recently moved and had the company TOTAL Reinigung in for the cleaning and they did a great job, even willing to stay for the inspection. They were also the least expensive company i got a quote from.
In June of last year the same company did my cleaning and moving and they were very fast and efficient, I can highly recommend them and they are very friendly.
The movers/cleaners do not speak english, however the guy I did all the email cordination with did. info@total-reinigung.ch

Thanks, I'll use this one as well. They seemed really friendly on the phone. I'm about to make a move myself!

Hi AlyinSuisse,
Have you finally chosen Total Reinigung and if yes were you satisfied? I also had a good impression from that company but looking for some confirmation before taking my decision...
Many thanks

Hi, actually I didn't end up using them - ended up doing it myself! Good luck with your search.

Many thanks for the quick reply!
May I ask you if it was difficult to meet your owner's requirements? I did it myself 3 years ago and the handover process was painful...this is why I am thinking of using professional cleaners...

Mekinak, I am in the same boat, what did your last landlords check thoroughly? I have read horror stories of going through flats with white gloves on (not sure how true they are...) but what did they pick up on particularly requiring a re-clean?

I have never seen white gloves being used ever. But they will look for things you didn't even know existed in your apartment.
When I moved out of my apartment in Wadenswil, they took apart the unit that encircled the toilet area with power drills. Seriously. I mean, when would I ever need to clean that or take it apart? It was crazy back there. I took pictures. They acknowledged that it was probably left that way from the construction crew that had renovated the apartment before we moved in, but still asked me to clean it.
Sooooooooooo gross.
That was the strangest thing I had ever seen. The handovers are normally NOT that extreme. But, the health inspectors for restaurants do inspections with UV lights to find bacteria. Which is true. I have heard the white glove story before as well, but I think this is linking one story with another.
A friend of mine move out of her tiny flat 3 months ago. She had cleaned it amazingly herself. When the inspection came, the agent was real impressed. During the course of the handover my friend took a glass of water, drank it, and put it down on the metal overlay of the kitchen sink. The agent came by, and went from nice to militant, and noting on the inspection report that there was calcium ring left by the glass. And demanded to know why my friend, could do such an amazing job, but be bordering on using the word "stupid" to not see that in front of her and had to go into the report.
The agent said how it was possible they would need a cleaning lady to come out and correct the matter. My friend, took a cloth and wiped it off in a few seconds. The agent still rolled her eyes.
My friend is still waiting for her deposit to be returned, even though new tenants have already moved in, to go on to making water circles of their own. My friend was supposed to be traveling by now in New Zealand, but can't as she is still waiting on her depo.
This is extreme cases. All my handovers, with the exception of the kids butchering one of our walls on the patio that looked like it was made of concrete, but in fact was some strange mesh, painting, with Styrofoam bubbles underneath, have been with the full return of our deposit and no problems. Then again each restaurant I have worked for in all 4 countries, when there is a health inspection, if the whole places fails, my section I am responsible always passes.

First experience with handover was focused on cleanliness of hidden spots like inside the "curtain boxes" above the windows and the top of the external rollo...which indeed I forgot to clean...but no white gloves!
The second time I thought I learned from my mistakes concerning cleaning but still i did not succeed to get it right...the landord required to cleaning under the shower door rails! No white gloves but ridiculous claims for damage caused to the floor...which was not broken but just got old faster because of the poor quality of the tiles! Fortunately I could claim to my insurance!
Good luck!

+1 for Total Reinigung from me as well. We used them for our last move for moving and cleaning. They offered a great price, were very good, and also very friendly. We even had a one or two larger things that we said would be sold before moving but weren't. I thought they might (rightly) make a fuss but it was no problem.

We have moved quite a bit also and the end of move check out can be insane. I would join the Mieterverband. You can pay them a nominal fee and they'll be present at the handover. Well worth it. You can even discuss ahead of time with them and then go have a coffee instead of experiencing the stress yourself. The last handover we had one of the insane people from our Verwaltung. Her and the guy from the Mieterverband argued and opened the Swiss law books several times. In the end we paid him 200chf (it went 2 hours or so) but he probably saved us 2000. He said this lady was the worst he'd experienced in 20 years of doing this.
This year we also used the form letter from the Mieterverband and had our rent lowered by maybe 150chf. I couldn't recommend them more.

A MASSIVE double from me too for "Total Reinigung" who did a fabulous job of the cleaning and were excellent value for money!
I cannot praise/recommend their cleaning highly enough and would certainly use them for moving as well in future based on the strength of that experience. | Quote: | | | | | +1 for Total Reinigung from me as well. I can totally recommend Total Reinigung, very friendly and efficient, the move took four hours. No breakages and a very reasonable price for a four and half zimmer apartment.
They also did the cleaning of the apartment and were present at the handover. We got 100% of our deposit back.

Hi guys,
Can you recommend any moving company around Uster? We will pack ourselves but need someone with the car and who will carry the stuff.
Thanks,
Gonzo

Just used total reinigung. Excellent service and he was present at the inspection, got my deposit back. They charged me 1350CHF for a 115sqm flat with 14 windows. I checked other cleaning companies and total reinigung was definitely cheapest. I'd also managed to haggle with him (150CHF) by paying cash.

I just booked our moving and cleaning with TOTAL Reinigung.
Few companies came to our place to evaluate the cost for cleaning or moving. When Arthur (the owner of TOTAL) came, he checked thoroughly all the details for cleaning. I was quite impressed. So we decided to go with them.
Let's see how the work will be done. I will come back and report after moving |

We used Total Reinigung for our last move as well. We had received a quote from them, which included throwing away things that we wanted to get rid of. We ended up wanting to throw away quite a bit more than we said when they came for the quote. So they wanted extra, which was completely justified and I gave to them, as well as a good tip for the crew. I also recommended them to a German colleague at work and his feedback was also very good.
It sounds like they continue to do good work. It's almost surprising considering that their prices are pretty good.

July 2016: We used Total Umzug and Total Reinigung (same firm) to clean our old apartment, pre clean our new house, and move our furniture.
Could not be happier. They were the cheapest and great guys. Mr Maartens is super friendly and was a great help with everything, going above and above in a number of ways.
Strongly recommended.

We have also used Total Umzug and Total Reinigung for moving and cleaning our old apartment. Were very satisfied! Even the landlord was amazed with how well everything was cleaned. She had never seen such thorough cleaning and wanted their business card. Highly recommended.
