Hi Is it possible to have a rental agreement (lease contract) which is based in the UK or US with a rental agency that isnt in Switzerland?

I have never come across this. Do the owners of the property live in Switzerland? Is the property in Switzerland?

More often it is owners who do not reside here who choose local agencies to manage their properties which are here.

Re: Rental Agreement

Actually it was a scam. Looking more closely at it, its completely a scam. Basically someone supposedly from Neuchatel who now lives in the UK had a flat in lausanne left to her by her father (she sent an official looking swiss ID in one email) then she says that she's using a UK company to manage the property. They have basic website just to give them presence but very generic.

Then the agency sends a sample contract which is a template for rentals in the US. They they say that you have to pay the deposit and they will send you the key to go and check out the place. If you like it, sign the contract and keep it, otherwise post the keys back and ... they will send your deposit back!!!

Just beware... this was found on some of the main flat hunting sites for the region.

Nothing new, this has been brought up a number of times. That was my first thought when I read your first post just now. Glad you caught it.

Re: Rental Agreement

yes, thanks. It always pays to ask questions, especially if it looks to good to be true.
