Living around Zurich Wiedikon

Hello!

I am a new member of the English Forum. My husband and I have recently arrived from New York City, and we are looking for housing in Zurich. We are considering an aparment a few blocks west of Zurich Wiedikon station. Does anyone have any advice on the safety of the neighborhood? Is it "up and coming" or still very much attached to the atmosphere of Langstrasse?

Thank you!

Zurich is generally very safe. I live a bit north of Wiedikon and have no problems or qualms about walking around at night.

.......... Only someone from NYC could ask if Wiedikon is safe while referring to the 'atmosphere of Lanstrasse' in the same post.

Bicycle theft is perhaps the largest element of concern I've come accross in the whole of Zurich in nearly 4 years.

There is another element of perceived theft, but as it turns out, it's not an international scamming organising at all...... Your money will just naturally evaporate from your bank account due to the high cost of living.

(I live 'near' there, so I can assure you it's all good).

Re: Living around Zurich Wiedikon

A friend of mine used to have an studio flat in Weststrasse. I stayed there for a week a few years ago and thought it was quite a good area. Nothing to concern me. She seemed to like the area as well.

Re: Living around Zurich Wiedikon

I lived in Zurich K5 for over two years now and I must find a new place. Wiedikon would be my first choice, go ahead it's a very nice neighborhood and an excellent location

I will be moving to Wiedikon in a few weeks time. Any hints on cafés, restaurants and where they are showing Premier League on weekends? (Yes I know the season ends tomorrow, I just want to be well informed for when it starts again )

Where is the thank you button?

I live in Kreis4 in very close proximity of Langstrasse. Everything is close, HB (main railway) is in 5 mins by bus. I have a friend who lives at Langstrasse. We are all safe and happy

Re: Living around Zurich Wiedikon

The area is generally safe with families around and many options in terms of restaurants etc. Best of luck with the move.
