Fraud through anibis

I have an add on Anibis about renting my current appartment, and today I have received the following message on my phone:
"Is the room still available, I am very interested. Please send me an email to lauramonti170@gmail.com"
I responded via email that the appartment (not room as she had asked) was still available. I then receive the following email, within a minute.
Hello ,
I am 29 years old non smoker lady coming to Switzerland on work purpose.
I work as chef on cruise ship at the moment and i have limited time to
surf the internet and also phone calls is also strictly limited due to
nature of my work. I will like you to make the arrangement for the
total cost covering my first three months rent together with bond. I
will also like you to get back to me with some photos and your full home
address for me to forward it to my mover to calculate the total cost of
moving my little stuffs to Switzerland.

Laura.

At this point it starts to smell fishy, so i go back to the SMS, and notice that the sender is in fact not Laura Monti, but "kormanadam". Of course, i then googled this name, and he has already done such things before but using his own name.
The next step would have been to ask for my bank details....

Beware...

PS - Two days ago I had received a similar thing about my car, which I am selling on Anibis too. This time this person was Richard Collins.
I am pasting it below just for info, even though it is not about housing.

Hello

Good day to you over there...I'm Collins Richard, I base in
Tbilisi but am presently sailing because in Norway, I'm a
Sailor/Marine Doctor, however I will be back to Tbilisi in less than
two month. I'm searching on auction where i found your car which am
interested to purchase for my use when am back to Tbilisi.

I will be happy to buy it but I will not be able to come and view it
in your place Note that i will be responsible for shipping and
handling.

My shipping company will come from Tbilisi Georgia, to your location
for the pick up, Let me know the final cost of your item? Kindly
provide me with the address where it will be picked up so that i can
forward it to the shipping company to calculate the cost of pick up
for me.

Looking forward to read form you asap.

Best Regards.

So, "I work on cruise ship" is a thing now?

I think that the point is that they are at the moment always somewhere where it is very difficult to reach them.

Re: Fraud through anibis

Wanted to reply that it just happened to me twice for a pool table I am trying to sell.

This time they are sending messages like this it seems:

From: Julien Larage <juliendeckersberg.ch@hotmail.com>

I got 2 messages on anibis all wanting to switch to emails.

Re: Fraud through anibis

Just report them to the Anibis support, theyll ban the accounts.

I had a similar thing when I tried selling a bike helmet on Anibis, had a "buyer" switch to emailing from a different email address, then sent me a fake PayPal email saying I had received the payment. Just got to be careful.

I went through as far as I could with the scammer, got his address, and after searching on the internet I found details of theei family members at that address, the scammer foolishly used his actual surname, just a fake first name. Gave all the info to the Geneva Police but never got any updates after that.
