Does anyone have some wording in French which I could use in a rent guarantee which I want my company to provide on an apartment rental.

I may be able to help you, but you would have to be a little more specific as to the agreement and what you are trying to say....

I am not sure if there is a certain form of wording required in CH in French, but basically something from an employer guaranteeing the employee's rent e.g.
To whom it may concern.
This is to confirm that Mr. X, born XX/XX/XXXX is employed as General Manager of Company X on a full time basis.
With regards to his personal rental of accomadation , the company gives a guarantee to pay the land lord the rent in the event that he is does not pay
This guarantee is limited to a rental amount of CHF X,XXX.00 per month

Here is something to start with, my french is VERY rusty, maybe the HR at your work could help..... i put in the 100% instead of full time, as in my experience, this is more commonly used, but that could be me. Also, for the General manager translation, maybe there is something more specific to your field.... dunno. And I added a restriction on the number of months paid, cause maybe thats important too......you can always take it out.

Anyway, i'm definitely not offended if someone else wants to edit it, but its a start!

babelfish, definitely a handy tool to help you understand a document in a foreign language, but don't use it to translate anything important from your native language into another.

It will probably get the message across, but not at a level you would want to give a potential employer or landlord. swisstoni is right about the litteral, babelfish would like change land lord into seigneur du terre, or something, which translated back would be more like Lord of the land.

One word of caution though.
I am not sure what you wish to use this document for, but if you want to replace the usual bank guarantee by this, most Regies will nto accept so check first.

The reason they do not accept is that this is much less strong of a guarantee for them than money frozen in a bank account.

Indeed, in case you need to pay something at the end, they will need to instigate a procedure with your employer etc etc
