Ennetbaden or Webermühle?

Hello to all,

My boyfriend and I are starting new jobs in ALSTOM next week, and we are looking for apartments in the Baden area. So far we are considering 2 apartments (both 3.5 zimmer, newly renovated) :

1. One in Ennetbaden, near the Post Platze, 2050CF (1860CF + charges) where we have to find a parking spot for the car nearby (any suggestions?). It has heating through the floor but the charges are only 190 CF, which makes me fear a big adjust at the end of the year (don't know how expensive can it be heating here). This one we can walk to work.

2. The second one is in Webermühle (Wettingen) 1770CF (1580CF + 190CF charges), and where I can have a parking spot in site. This one has radiators in every room and the charges are the same than in the previous one... But we have to take the train to work.

The zone seems better in the first, and my boyfriend is concerned about Webermühle one being kinda isolated.

Any thoughts on this? Someone lives close to any of these places and can give us a piece of advice? It will be very appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Pat

Re: Ennetbaden or Webermühle?

Personally, I would go for the Ennetbaden apartment.
This is just my personal opinion of course, but you are so near work there, and to be honest whenever I have passed Webermühle on the bus, I cannot believe how huge and ugly it looks.

Re: Ennetbaden or Webermühle?

Yes, Webermühle is a bit, ahem, brutal on the outside. If the renovation is good quality, however, then it's worth considering.

As well as the train, you could also catch bus 2 from 'Webermühle' to Baden station, or bus 4 from Wettingen station (just over the Limmat bridge from Webermühle) to Bruggerstrasse. Whatever you choose, it's an easy, short commute with lots of options throughout the day so I wouldn't let it sway your decision too much.

Ennetbaden is very nice too, though.

Of course, I don't know your circumstances, but the buses and trains in Baden are excellent, you may find that you don't need a car, we manage great without one, therefore no parking problems.

Re: Ennetbaden or Webermühle?

Thanks a lot for your advices!

We probably go for the Webermühle, since it is cheaper and we like the apartment very much. We will probably stay the first year and in the mean time look for something better once we are adapted to life in Switzerland.
