Landlord will not send check in report - options?

All,

We did a check in when moved in and the LL took photos of issues in house like scratches in wood etc. However he has refused to send the report we agreed despite numerous requests. I think he is doing it so can keep our deposit when leave soon. Is there any legality that he has to produce this before we check out?

Thanks!

If this check was done as you were moving in, this report becomes part of your lease agreement and you are entitled to a copy. Under normal circumstances there should be two originals, one for each party. Have you sent a request by registered mail?

Yes I am going to do this now. I have spoken to him and emailed him around 15 times to no avail. I have some notes from the removals who noted marks before they entered but its not the full report. I have insurance but imagine he will not send us the receipts afterwards to be able to claim.

TBH he's a complete barsteward.

Archive a copy of your letter together with the receipt you get at the post office.

You should have gotten a copy immediately on the check. This is normally done on standard forms with triplicate (agency, owner, renter).

Get onto this immediately its suspicious.
