Landlord charging me for end clean as states was not clean enough!!

Can anyone give me any advise on where i stand re. the end clean when renting a flat....we lived in our flat 1 year and i had been warned that the end clean was a nightmare so i spent days and days scrubbing, filling in holes, painting and even replaced the silicone on the very old shower cubicle.
When the landlady came in she straight away stated i had to take down the strip light in the kitchen and clean inside it, unscrew the toilet seats and clean all the screws on it. She then went on to say i had not cleaned the flat good enough so i went back and spent another few hours making sure i had not missed a thing!!! Now the landlady states that i had not cleaned the flat at all and that she has had to pay for cleaners to come in and she will be billing me not only for the clean but for a whole months rent as she states she could not rent it out!!!
We did not pay a deposit, but how much is the law on her side that she can bill us for a clean that is her word against mine??
Thanks for any help as i am going crazy here with worry that i will end up with a bill for thousands....
ps. its a very old flat.

1) Wait for the bill to arrive
2) Pick it up with your local mieterverband.
3) Dispute what you can dispute.
4) Pay the rest.
5) Learn from the experience.

I think many people have had similar experiences such as yours, especially in the Swiss German region.

After spending 12 hours straight cleaning with 2 other people, I was charged for 4 hours of cleaning. The landlord then tried to charge me for other miscellaneous damages when he had not even done an inventory check with me when I moved in. He charged another couple hundred francs for administration costs of having to write letters, emails, and make phone calls. I'm not going to even mention the other ridiculous charges he tried to tack on. He took me to the Schlichtungsstelle to try to get me to pay, but the judges there saw what an insane and greedy man this landlord was.

Your landlord is not in the right trying to charge you for a whole month's worth of rent. I had a landlord try to charge me for an extra week's worth of rent after I moved out and I thought that was bad. The way I see it, the most she can charge you for is 1 day's worth of rent if she had to rent out the flat 1 day later in order to have the apartment cleaned for that day. But not being able to rent out the flat the entire month is absurd. She will have to prove that she hired someone to clean the apartment for the entire month.

What you can do is, hopefully if you took pictures of the clean state of the apartment when you moved out, fill out a form with your local Schlichtungsstelle and attach these photos. I think if you do take this to the arbitration board, that they will ask you to pay for the cleaning but not for a month's rent. Usually they are on the side of the tenant not the landlord. These Swiss landlords are such greedy people, the worst kind I have ever encountered, and I feel they definitely try to take advantage of foreigners.
