New in Geneva - Living in France via airBnB

Hi all,

I am starting a new job in Geneva on January and I have found to "rent" a flat in ferney voltaire (france) via airBnB.

Should I do it? Any concerns as I will not actually have a tenancy agreement?

Are there things I would need to be aware off?

Permit, Bank Accounts, Health Insurance, French Tax, Pension ... Is there anything I should be having problems with if I do this?

I did some research on the forum but could not found solid answers.

Many thanks in advance !

It will be like living in a hotel, but do not send a lot of money, there are scammers and thieves about!

As long as you follow AirBNB rules (=pay through them, not Western Union), you won't risk money much. Refunds and claims work well there. But better chat with the host to check if he is sane, and ask if he will be able to produce some papers for you to register at the town office.
My colleague is renting an apartment on AirBNB now for a ridiculously low price for ZH. Not problems so far.

a couple of months via airBnB would not be a problem for a temporary accommodation. If you got a job in Geneva why rent in Ferney? there's a lot in airBnB in Geneva.
