| | [Zürcher Oberland] Disposing of large household items
Hi Folks,
How on earth do I get rid of a sofa in or around Uster? I think it'll fit on the roof rack of my car so I can drive it somewhere if necessary.
I won't be buying a replacement, this is just an excess item I want shot of.

The contact page is here http://www.uster.ch/de/verwaltung/aemter/?amt_id=3253
I will contact them if nobody has any suggestions but maybe their are other options thnt Stadt Uster?

the price should be something *like* 50 cents per kilogram.

To add a bit of info in case it's useful:
In Uster in addition to the normal bottle/can recycling points we have a central recycling point near the station which takes unbundled cardboard, small batteries, glass, metal, electrical item, small batteries (not car batteries), paper, Styrofoam etc etc. In fact the only items they don't take (that I've found) are plastics, wood and large items (like sofas).

Wonderful! Now if somebody wants to know how AND how much, they can find the info all in one thread! |

" Einmal wöchentliche Abfuhr von brennbarem Material (max. 2,5 m lang, 10 cm Durchmesser von Holzteilen, Einzelteile max. 50 kg schwer) zusammen mit dem Kehricht. " taken from http://www.uster.ch/de/verwaltung/ab...object_id=2763
I told you to read all related links on the page | This user would like to thank Jeff for this useful post: | |

I told you to read all related links on the page | | | | | Super, this is actually considerably easier than I thought
EDIT: I need to buy "Marken" for the sofa from the Post office or Stadt Haus, it is 6 per place so 18 for this 3 seater. We just leave it out on rubbish collection day :-)

Maybe if you leave it out the day before, someone will collect it and take it home and use it |

It's impossible to give away any furniture in Switzerland that isn't "as new"

BTW I checked the below link and used google translate, and what I understand is that a cargo tram can take the furniture as well. But that still means I need to hire a vehicle to drop off my stuff at the collection point right? Might as well take it to the recycling center. http://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/content/.../tram_was.html |

I think you can always post on tutti.ch (in addition to the market-section here) and see if somebody wants to pick it up for free.
