english translation of Bern standard housing contract?

I believe I have a standard contract and wondered if anyone has a English translation of it (as it's quite an old version) to save me paying for translation.

It's got this at the top:

"Mietvertrag Fur Einfamilienhauser (revidiert 1990)
Herausgegeben von: Hauseigentumerverbande Basel-stadt, baselland, solothurn und Bern"

and it a 4 page standard doc, that landlord has inserted relevant info in blank sections.

Re: english translation of Bern standard housing contract?

You can buy these standard contracts in Papeterie (Stationery, paper) shops. I think it best to ask the landlord where he bought it, and then try and buy an English translation, but it probably doesn't exist! If you can find their address, maybe somebody can ask them for you. Have you joined a Mieterverband / Mieterschutz organisation, they can check it out for you.

But easiest is to ask a colleague to check it out, for anything unusual. Most of the contract is a repeat of basic Swiss law, and any unusual extras are obvious to someone who lives here. If you don't like a clause in the contract, just strike it through, if the landlord insists on it then you might have to live with this condition.

A contract I had in Munich specified "no pigeon keeping" on the balcony. I asked the landlord why this was, and he didn't know, as he had only bought the contract from a shop.
