Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I will be visiting IKEA next week to get a final sense of what I'm buying and go from there.
Sense prevails.

Once you know what you want to buy, obviously Porsche's offer is a great one and you should take it up if it works out. But if it doesn't, then a man with a van operating commercially will know his way around the system, will have done lots of Ikea builds (familiarity reduces time required!) and above all will be where you ask them to be when you ask them to be. You could also try grey1234, who is fully registered and insured and often works up Basel way:

Re: Home delivery to Neuchatel from IKEA: need ideas

My plan all along was the visit the store twice: once to choose items and a second time to bring things home. It's the latter part I haven't quite worked out. But looks like there are lots of great options! Thanks again to those who offered their services: I will be in touch!

And actually my initial preference was to buy used from anibis.ch or the thrift stores...if anyone else living in Neuchatel has a large-ish vehicle and would be willing to help me collect used items over the period between March 26 and April 10, please pm me! I don't have ton of money but I can pay a bit and can definitely offer beer and a meal!

And (hopefully) obviously, if you are looking to sell stuff, please pm me! I'm in the market for most things! I check the market forum boards regularly but am looking for local finds.

Neither the OP nor Porsch are in Neuchâtel anymore so you may be waiting a long time for a reply.

Renting a van (from IKEA) would be your best option if you're planning on getting a load of stuff in my opinion assuming you've got someone to help carry the stuff.

This guy is very good if you need help with stuff.

Re: Home delivery to Neuchatel from IKEA: need ideas

thanks but although I drive, I am new to Switzerland and a bit reluctant driving around especially a large van. so a man and van that can help me in transporting and setting the furniture should be the best option.

Ask Jérôme from the link I gave you. He should be able to help you, not sure how well he speaks English as I only dealt with him in French but I believe his English is pretty decent.

I did not have a van either, you can buy your furniture now and arrange the deliviery on the day you want. The cost is around 15 % of the purchase, but
when there is no other option, go for it.
You can contact a sales person in the display area, the make the sales and arrange the delivery to your new flat.
I did it that way, got 33 boxes, no problem at all.
I recommend you purchase a good Tool like a Makita, to build the furniture

The tool from Ikea are pretty crap.

I can help with transportation as I have a van and also time in the store assisting and even possibly assembling at home. While I don't live near Neuchatel I pass by there weekly.
