So I should chuck a fridge through my window?
Only allowed before 10:30pm, must be V-Zug and you have to have an appropriately qualified glazier standing by.

Don't forget the safety goggles and the rubbish disposal stickers. Although I guess you are chucking it inwards, so you can probably forget about those. Will the fridge contain coconuts?

count us in too!

But seriously... Without a proper 'sublet' etc agreement, One month's notice should be enough, plus a list of all the remaining debt owed. If he wants to argue about the debt, then negotiate, but based on the content from the rest of the thread you have plenty of power to issue a 'betreibung' against him, which is pretty powerful...

Do you plan to share again - why not give notice and find someone new to move in by x date. That makes it more 'neutral' than just wanting the freeloader out...

basically, it needs to be in writing. What you want , when you want it and how much it's going to cost him... and your 'batna' (best alternative to negotiated agreement) which is what you will do if he doesn't just sign the paperwork, agree to the debt and move out...

Negotation starts from the point of knowing what in an 'ideal world' you want, clearly communicating that to the other person, allowing them some chance to communicate what they would like, and finding a position somewhere in between. The power comes from knowing what you can/will do if the other person isn't willing to agree/comply.

Re: Housemate not paying her share of the rent

Three consecutive days of "Absinthe and Comedy Night" at your place?

I'd book a flight for that, sis!

Good luck.
