Paying for furnace/chimney maintenance as a renter?

Hi everyone.
I just had a question. Is it normal in Switzerland for the renter to have to pay for the cleaning of the oil furnace/chimney, or is that something the landlord takes care of (especially when they are the ones who arranged for the cleaning)?

Thanks.

Thanks 3Wishes.

I looked at the thread and I know the cleaning is mandatory. However, I'm a bit confused as to whether this is a bill the landlord usually picks up? So I wanted to check and see what other people have experienced in this situation.
Wouldn't it be considered building maintenance?

I think it may depend on your contract, and whether or not you use the chimney. I assume if you use it, you are responsible for the cleaning, whereas if you don't, then perhaps the landlord just pays for inspection? We don't have a chimney so I wouldn't know for sure. Just saw the link and thought it might help (didn't read it).

If you haven't signed a contract yet, see if you can get the wording to say it's the landlord's expense.

The same issue arose on this thread - Should I pay this bill or my landlord?

The building's fire insurance is paid by the landlord. The insurance company insist the chimney is cleaned professionally every 1 or two years, sometimes the professional chimney sweep will condemn the chimney.

As the tenant you have to maintain the building, including cleaning the chimney and maintaining the furnace and boiler: read your contract or join the tenant's association to find out more.

Thanks. I'll have to check then. Part of what has confused me, is the fact that the landlord lives in the building, so all the utilities are in their name. We pay certain amount is paid every month for water, electric, etc.. so it was surprised to get a cleaning bill.
