Thoughts on Wadenswil

hi Everyone

Potentially looking for place to move family next year and I like the look of Wadenswil. Just wondering if anyone has any comments on the town?

* Good for families?
* Good schools?
* Things to do?
* Tax tariff

all comments appreciated?

Thanks

Re: Thoughts on Wadenswil

Lovely little town, great boat connections, nice views, only drawback annual snail migration in September. Salt your front steps and windowsills and you'll be fine.

We live in Au which is part of Waedenswil.

Really great place for families. Lots to do and great access to other places by rail, bus, boat and car via the motorway.
There's an ice rink by the station in winter, the ubiquitous lakeside swimming area and annual fairground, an indoor skate park, a swimming pool and, unlike many towns around the lake, a lakeside footpath/cycle way that gets you from Horgen to Richterswil with only a couple of places where you need to be near a road.
There's also mini-golf and a great playground at the top of Waedenswil.

The hospital is just up the road in Horgen which is great if you've got kids and need a quick visit for a few stitches or a plaster cast.

There are lots of paths and 'no-traffic' roads behind Waedenswil which are great for a bike ride with the kids.

Taxes are are not the lowest but if you want services, you need to pay the tax.

There are quite a few expat families here but you probably wouldn't notice as as after a few months, all the kids are speaking Swiss-German anyway and are just as likely to have a Swiss child as a best friend rather than another Brit or other non-Swiss.

Cafe Braendli. Zimtbrotli.

Reason enough to move to Waedenswil.
