Moving to Basel

hi we are moving to Basel in the near future and having trouble deciding on an area that has a good primary school with wrap around child care, does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Moving to Basel

We used the French primary schools in Gundeli and Geilert. They will keep the children in at lunch and provide a Garderie both early morning and late afternoon. If your kids don't speak French they will soon pick it up.

Alternatively you can live over the border in France.

If you want to use local schools, it is a bit more difficult. You might want to have a nanny or au pair, although both can be quite expensive in Switzerland.

Kids generally speak Swiss German in local schools (although they do learn High German). If you prefer them to have good exposure to High German, most Germans who do so live in Bruderholz and the local primary school there apparently mostly uses High German.
