| | Need to buy a bed
Good afternoon.
I am trying to buy furniture onlne for my new apartment in Montreux.
I have found everything in Maison du monde. The thing is I am not currently in CH and I will come for the delivery. therefore, everything has to be there on certain days.
Anyone knows where I can order online a bed, with its' base and the mattress? because on the pre-mentioned website, they bring only the bed (frame
) and they have no matresses. for me, that I am not in Montreux, this is a huge problem.
Can anyone suggest something?
thank you in advance |

Hi
I already checked out IKEA, Conforama and Maison du monde websites and like some models.
From Maison du monde: I like the Zen one and Chesterfield ZEN CHESTERFIELD
From IKEA: we like the Arbakka model the boxspring one which is too expensive but in this case one does not need to buy the Slatted bed base. please correct me, if i am wrong about buying SBDs. Arbakka
From Conforama : we like the Lit "PAJJ" one but we have no idea whether this one is good or not. PAJJ
I would like to get some advise from forum members for buying a bed, slatted bed base(SBD).
Actually our mattress is really in a very best shape and we are very much satisfied with it. We bought it in IKEA for around 350CHF which we prefer to retain it. Moreover new mattresses costs very high!
We would like to change bed and SBD both bought from Conforama. We bought the SBD's for the cheapest price which is not in a great shape.
The dilemma is about the price, where to buy and moreover about the model because we purchased the whole "chambre à coucher" set. It should match our wardrobe set at our room.
I wish someone clarifies how to go about it? where to buy them for good price? how to get rid of bed and SBD's before purchasing new ones.
I would like to know about PVC beds and boxspring beds. Please enlighten me with the differences, advantages and disadvantages of both types.
Thank you for your replies and await them.
Best regards
emp

I would love to answer your question. But I'm really not sure what exactly you are asking... Can you maybe simplify your question so we can figure out what you need exactly?

There are 41 Concord shops selling mattresses in Switzerland!! http://tel.local.ch/en/q?what=Concor...here=&rid=aKTa |

It sounds like you need to talk to a bed salesman/specialist. Maybe there's a bed forum out there in cyberspace, where people are discussing the differences, advantages, and disadvantages of PVC beds vs. boxspring beds?
good luck

Hi all
First of all, thank you very much for your kind responses from Minimia, Sbrinz and Pilatus1.
@Minimia, sorry for not being so clear with my questions.
@Sbrinz, I already checked the Concord link which you have given above before my post. We would like to buy bed and slatted bed base. The mattress we have is still in a great shape.
I will try to put my questions simple.
Problem:
1. Bed base is not in great shape
Question:
1. Where can we buy bed base of good quality but reasonable prices?
2. How to select a good bed base?
3. If we go for boxspring bed then is it that there is no need for buying a bed base?! Please bear with my ignorance :-(
Thank you for your answers. I appreciate all for your patience and willing to help everyone in this forum.
Best regards

Hello Empathy,
Appreciate its a few months late, but hopefully you will find this information of help, or others can benefit from it in the future.
If you are only looking for a base, then there are a few types to consider.
1) A solid top - i.e., similar feel to putting your mattress directly on the ground
2) A sprung base - extra "softness"/ support
A sprung base can come in two forms - the slats (like Ikea sells are slightly springy), or a box spring base - where there is a full layer of springs (normally about 10cm high) laid into the base.
The different bases can really alter the feel of a mattress. For example, I have a medium feel mattress and a sprung base - I weigh around 68kg. If I removed the sprung base, the mattress would feel medium-firm. Likewise I could add a topper to change the "medium" feel "bed" to a "soft-medium" feel.
This all has to be understood in conjunction with the type of mattress as well as the weight of the person(s) sleeping on the bed.
The main goals for you to understand when purchasing a new bed:
- reasons and benefits for a new bed? Old bed is 15 years old (YIKES!!) improve my sleep, hence quality of life! Feel fresher, so happier, etc, etc
- How heavy am I, therefore what bed set up do I need?
- What about the filler materials? Natural materials breathe with the body - foams, polyesters and latex don't, hence can sometimes make it feel like sleeping on a heated bed!
- How much can I afford? (Remember its a quality of life decision for a ten year period... and it's 8 hours a day of benefit)
- Then you can look at styles, colours, fabrics, etc, etc..
Just a few thoughts to get you going!
Happy to help further - just pop any questions on this thread!
Regards,
Chris
