I thought there was a vote recently on one that passed at about 20 or am I going mad ? Perhaps it was suggested and defeated I just remember them barking on about it on the news.
It did in Neuchâtel

Par 85 voix contre 22, les députés neuchâtelois ont dit oui à un salaire minimum cantonal. Il s'élèvera à 3640 francs par mois, versés sur douze mois. Il entrera en vigueur le 1er janvier 2015.

Minimum wage 3640 CHF over 12 (not 13) months from 1st of Jan this year.

Absolute minimum wage in Vaud for a house employee (cleaner/nanny) is 18.55, if no training or experience.

Seriously, who wants health insurance here for less than 600 CHF/Month? You better pray that nothing happens to you then.
Basic insurance has the same coverage for everyone.

If you are young and healthy, you can select a higher deductible...

Re: House search

Don't forget that Kreuzlingen is right by the German border. You can perhaps live in Germany where the rents and living costs are far lower.

I have a deductible of 2500. I think I could even up that. Don't remember. In the years I've paid this higher dedcutible, I've saved more than 2500F. So I'm OK with that.

However, if I get a catastrophic illness I'll still be covered the same as those who paid more.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there.

I think that the salary was probably posted before the exchange rate changed. But that still means the salary was 60KF. It's certainly possible as there are families who live on that. It won't be fun though.

It's a shame his wife doesn't have the language skills as there is a shortage of nurses. Does the school need a school nurse?

True, but I found that basic coverage (LaMal) quite basic (hence the name). As soon as you start adding stuff (complémentaires) like dental care, medication, free choice of docters/specialists, you easily arrive at a premium of over 1200 CHF for a family of four.

I am just trying to be honest here, saying the OP that he can get insurance cover for 600 CHF/month here for his family of 4 is maybe theoretically true, but I think he is entitled to know that it will only cover the very minimum.

I can pick my own doctors and I pay 220F a month. So let's split the difference and say that insurance will cost 900f a month. Anyway.... we are getting away from the topic. The point is, it's a terrible offer for the OP.
