Renting without a [job] contract yet, is it possible?

Hello All

Question to the forum I could not find an answer to in the sticky.

We are a married EU couple, non Swiss, have lived in SWitzerland for many years and left it 2.5 years ago to work abroad.

We had our B permits frozen and now we want to come back to live in Switzerland, but we are coming, upfront, without a job. We are already applying and interviewing but we don't have them yet (Pharma & Banking industry are our jobs, so we will be fine)

However, question is: can we even try to get a rental in Zurich or Basel if, when applying, we cannot provide a Swiss employment contract yet?

I guess we technically can but our chances are slim....

Are there any alternatives for us, other than temp furnished accommodation until we sort out the job situation?

Thanks
