Re: Breakdown Repair in apartment. Who is responsible?

Even if it's not your responsibility it is so much easier to have the contacts yourself instead of a middleman who has to call back and forth to be sure the appointment is possible.

you could ask him to pick the companies and after that you'll take care of the appointments.

From a purely practical standpoint it's a lot easier if you coordinate it an just inform the landlord/hauswart.

It's your apt, and your schedule. Surely you want to determine when the work should be carried out. If the landlord coordinates it then you end up with them having to clear an appointment with you, or they just inform you when they've chosen and if that doesn't suit you they're not all that bothered.
I normally leave my key with the Hauwart and let them get on with it.

Thanks

Problem is I am out of the country and he wants this done before contract renewal at the end of the month.

It's far easier for me if he decided who he wants to do it and how it's done given its his place.

The hob I guess I can just call Siemens and they'll take care of it. The hole in the wall I have no idea and suspect when a expert looks at it they'll see the larger structural issues at play and realise it's a bigger job than patching up a hole.

The landlord is continuously developing his other properties etc so just assumed he would have people for this and a vested interest in it being done to his standard
