Giving notice period for vacating house

I am sharing a room in a 3.5 room apartment with another person. The contract is the name of other persons and we both have a mutual contract between us.
As per notice period I need to give 2 months notice period in writing.
Can i give the notice period on 1st of month eg 1st April and vacate the house by 31st May. Or is it mandatory to give it by end of each month even though its just a difference of 1 day.
Please also let me know if the email communication is fine or i need to give a written notice, Please let me know the exact process of giving notice period.
Thanks for all the help

Re: Giving notice period for vacating house

2 months is 2 months (normally 3) not 1 month and 30 days.... unless you figure it out with your roommate, then you can do whatever you agree upon.

email is not ok (yet) as there is no prove they received it. registered mail is always your best option

another thing you can do to aid any moving is to place the add yourself and do some interviews and propose the new tenants to the current room mate.

Re: Giving notice period for vacating house

go to the post office with the letter. ask the clerk to send it registered (costs a bit more) they will stamp it and give you a receipt with a tracking number. You can then follow it on their website. Someone has to sign for it when receiving giving you proof that they have received it....and thus making it impossible for the receiving party to decline receiving your notice.

Thats it

May be you could use this one to frame your termination letter:

Make two copies of the letter. First try to get sign in person otherwise send it by registered post.

This.... plus a couple of other things.

Keep a copy of your letter in case you need to refer to it later.

It's the attempted delivery date of your letter that matters, not the posted date; so do make sure you get it in the post a couple of days in advance of the last day of the month and allow for the possibility that the last day of the month falls on a weekend, public holidays, etc.

Even if the addressee doesn't collect the letter if the post office has attempted delivery it counts; they will get a slip of yellow paper in their letterbox informing them of the attemped delivery and where to collect it from.
