Applying before getting work permit

Hello,

I will be moving to Zurich end of the month with my family. I'm Italian and my wife is extra-EU. We'll apply for the work permit on the day we arrive, I understand it takes sometime to be processed. To apply for rental do we need to wait for the actual permit to be issued? That means we will have to wait maybe a month or more before we can actually look for a permanent flat?

Re: Applying before getting work permit

If you got an unlimited contract , the permit will be no problem.
So , you can go for looking for a flat without a problem.

Re: Applying before getting work permit

I do have a permanent contract in hand. I just thought that not having the permit could be a discriminant for the application.

Re: Applying before getting work permit

You have to look first for a flat, when you register at the meldestelle , you also apply for a permit B (requires a unlimited contract, so no problem).

Re: Applying before getting work permit

We will be staying in a temporary accommodation provided by the company, but we want to find our permanent flat as soon as possible.
