| | Where to advertise flat when moving out?
I am living an apartment in Zurich and will move out in June.
The apartment agency mentioned that I have to inform my moving out in three month before our leaving. Therefore, I informed our moving out in April. Then they said June is not a moving season, so I have a charge till September if our flat is not rented until then.
I am a little bit embarrassed. Is it common? I think they won't advertise until June, and I didn't expect I should pay for finding a person.
Do anybody have information sharing rent information for free? I just want find a person who simply take my 3.5 rooms plat with all furniture and other living facility. Such a webpage, Homegate is rather expensive and complicated to register all the information.

Ooops, you should have read your contract, it is quite clear and absolutely normal. You have to advertise the apartment and get a nachmeiter, or pay rent until your notice period is up which is likely Sept. So an ad for home gate is cheaper than 5 months rent.

Your contract says you need to give 3 months notice (it'll be three whole months). You gave your notice in April. You should be able to move out end of July.
If your contract doesn't mention any exclusions (such as stating you can't move out at the end of July or August) then tell them to honour your contract terms.

It depends really, I have my second contract which has 3 months notice any month with exclusion of December (no 'fix' cancellation dates defined).
Advice to OP, re-read your contract, also keep in mind that notice is in full months, this means if you give it in middle of a month it will start 'running' from the next month and not from the moment when you give it.

Try Anibis. I moved into a flat last year, decided it was a bad decision, advertised it on Anibis and I had moved out after 4 and a half months. It's free to advertise.

Also advertise it down in the Market Place section of the forum under Property Offered. |

I am in a similar situation, i didn't know about the moving dates and didnt check the contract carefully, I found a new place last week. I now want to move out immediately so want to rent my place to someone else as soon as possible. Do you think its possible to find someone fast to replace me and move out easily? I just dont know how dynamic is the real estate market in Zurich.

Depends on whether it's a desirable property. If so, then you should have people knocking down your door to take over the lease. If it's not then you're going to struggle to find someone. Shouldn't think being based in Zurich it would be too much of a problem to find someone though.

I don't doubt I cannot find a person. The flat has a good location and very good living environment. I just wondered that I have to do extra efforts which I didn't expected. I accepted my situation, and will do that.
I appreciate all your kind advices!

Lesson learned then. Make sure you know what your new contract says regarding moving out days, notice periods, etc. And remember that any notice to vacate the property needs to be sent by registered letter - no phone calls, no e-mails. So if you want to move out on 30th June you have to send the notice to arrive with the landlord/agency on or before the 31st March for example.

There are threads about this on this forum. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the search function to work, today.
I suggest you make a good ad, specify the size of the rooms, draw a plan of the flat to scale, take good photos, and put that ad on this forum.
I think an ad is not complete unless you specify the nett rent, plus "Nebenkosten" (extra charges) = total rent, with details about the cellar, attic, bicycle space, laundry, balcony, parking, nearest public transport, shops, schools, how old the building is, when the last renovation was, etc.
You can also use www.gratis-inserate.ch www.olx.ch www.tutti.ch
for free.
And print the ad out, an pop it in every single letterboxes in your block, and the adjacent blocks. Anyone who stays there, and likes it, might be happy to invite their friends to come and live nearby.
