redirecting mail to P.O. Box? Any other option?

Hello, I was searching for an answer but it seems that again I have an unique question.

I am moving to a new flat but the change is not synchronized on the same date. So I am moving out of my current place one week but I will move in to a new place 3 weeks later. I have already arranged a storage for the things but I wonder what to do with any letters arriving in between the dates. I know that post has mail redirection service but it doesn't fit exactly here.

I am looking for a way to store my mails as well for the 3 weeks. Any options? What will happen if I redirect my mail but there will be no mail box with my name at the new address? I wonder if it is possible to, let say, redirect mail to P.O. Box?

The post will hold your mail for you to pick up later. This is commonly done for people going on extended vacations.

How does the Post work in Elbonia? Is it anything like the Elbonian Airlines (pic attached)?

Sort of The mail get stamp 'recipient not found' and if it's registered mail then it go back to sender but ordinary letter go to disposal box at the post office - one may be lucky to get it back from the box if ask for it within the same week...

Phew, all right then. I will set up mail redirection from my current address to the new address and then after the 3 weeks I will check the at the post office if they keep anything for me.

Well, I too have a plan to visit a few places during that time - it happened to be a sort of unplanned motivation to go for vacation

Of course. However it was not so clear to me with regards to my situation.

I have already paid for the mail box plate with my name to the new gérance and I asked them to put my name asap on the mail box but still I don't know when they'll do this. There may be a few days or weeks delay, up to the moving-in date, I guess...

Thank you!

Re: redirecting mail to P.O. Box? Any other option?

In my case, it did take some days for the gerance to install the nameplate. In the meantime, I pasted/posted my name on the mailbox (and they were fine with this temporary arrangement). You could also ask the current tenant if you could add your name there (and include: "a partir de...").

Alternatively, could you give another forwarding address to the PO- e.g. your workplace or the address of a friend of yours?

Re: redirecting mail to P.O. Box? Any other option?

I have managed to open online Post account. To my surprise, after logging, there is an additional option 'temporary forwarding' - looks like the mails can be forwarded temporarily anywhere: post restante, P.O. Box, office, some address... yes, the new address field let you define any adress (your friend or whoever)
