street market / Flea market ???????

Hi!

I have quite a big amount of house things to sell and think that the flea market is quite a good option to sell everything and -luckily- in one morning.

But, does anyone know how to proceed? Do I have to have any kind of permission? Do I have to pay? Or is it just like waking up very early to go there with all my stuff and get best spot???

Thank you in advance!!!

All the best,

Rocío

Normally you need to contact the organisers and book (and pay for) a pitch. Google "Flohmarkt" and the location and you should find out who that is.

Don't know about your local one, but here once you have your card I think it's first come - first served for pitches. So get there in good time for a decent one.

Clicking on those little scales above the post is one way of saying thanks

It is in Dietikon and the lady at the Stadthaus told me that someone will tell me where to place my things... no idea of who this person will be, only know his name. But yes, I had in mind to arrive soon, just in case
and thanks again, written and clicking the little scales

Re: street market / Flea market ???????

I am glad you found a spot to sell your things--good for you.

For anyone in the future reading this post, there is a website, www.vide-grenier.org, that describes, in detail, all of the garage sales, attic sales, antique fairs, book and CD sales, etc. in all of the Swiss cantons and the departements of France, happening on any given weekend. It's all in French, so find a friend to translate for you if you need to.

If you find an event that interests you, it will either tell you directly on the website what you need to do to sell things there or it will give you a telephone number to contact.

I have convinced Mr. Big that we need to sell some things so I expect we will be shlepping our stuff to Nyon in the near future. (The monthly sale in Nyon is really good and well-attended).

Re: street market / Flea market ???????

Call me Old-fashioned, I would have bought much more on each flea market if they would have had the prices already written, big enough so I could have seen it from a certain distance.
Eyes are getting old with age and old people might not have their reading glasses on while walking.
So I saved a lot and I stopped going even I would have been able to ask how much it costs this or that.

Hi Filmliebhaberin,

Thanks for the advice! I have the prices on already, but I´ll get the stickers with me because I don´t think they will survive the way to the market.. hehe

I am a bit more worried about the language though, but it is gonna be interesting, at least! Hope the citizens of Dietikon have patience

You'll get by with hand signs and money-waving. Be sure you have plenty of cash for change. Folks in Switzerland think nothing of using a 100 note to pay for a bottle of water.
