Moving help Basel

OK so I need to move 5 boxes (not too big) from my temproary apartment to my new one about 5km away (in basel)... does anyone know how to find someone with a van to help with this? I was going to just order a large taxi and then fit it all in as its only about 5km. Does anyone know if a swiss taxi driver is likeley to get ticked off about this? its seems like a ridiculous waste for me to go pick up a hire car load it up on my own, drive 5km, unload, then drop it off.

I found comments about a "man with a van" in Zurich, does anyone know if such a man exists in Basel??

Thanks for your help!! its so annoying being so new here!! its the kind of problem that you normal ask a mate with a wagon to help out for half an hour...but i got no mate with no wagon so im stuck!!!

Re: Moving help Basel

I reckon that a taxi driver is likely to be p'd off with something like that.

Annoying as it may be, the simplest option is probably to rent something for a day. At least then you'll have transportation in case you need to go get anything else for the flat (go to the hardware shop, furniture shop, supermarket, etc.)

Re: Moving help Basel

I know this is true, and it would be nice to spend the day picking up stuff for my appartment...but if forgot to mention im stupidly pressed for time!! I arraive in basel 11pm the night before and then Im getting on a flight at 1pm the day of the move, so its a speedy morning mission... im thinking if i hire a car what ever could go wrong will go wrong!!

at this stage i think P'd off taxi driver is still a better bet... and we all know that even if they are p'd off the swiss generally dont complain! he he

Re: Moving help Basel

Get in touch with Planzer (061 337 2626) they just moved 9 boxes of mine from Geneva to Basel and were very efficient and cheap. They're based here so I'm sure would help you out.

By the way, are you still looking to join a tri club? My fiance arrives on Monday from SA and coaches athletes (tri, track and road) so will also be on the lookout for clubs, preferably with English-speaking members.
