Need advice on moving from canton FR to canton BE

Hi All,

We are currently living in the German region of Canton Fribourg.
My husband is native german working in canton Bern , and I have now got a new job in Bern as well. Our 5yo will start his first kindergarten this year.
We are now thinking of moving to Bern next year as :
1. we will be both more closer to the workplace.
2. we both like to be more closer to the city life.

But as I compare the yearly taxes it shows almost 5k more in Bern than in FR. We cannot decide if it would be worth it to make a move.
It would be great if anyone can share some useful info on this.

Thanks,
D

I think central Bern is expensive but the suburbs are less.
We will be in Muri which is apparently low ..

Muri and Ittigen taxes are a tiny bit lower than the rest of Bern. The problem is that canton Bern has high taxes as well!

The solution would be to live in an area in the north of Canton Fribourg. It was discussed widely only last week!

Bern area opinions

Sorry, I am unfamiliar with the concept; move from FR to BE?

Why would anyone in their right mind want to do that?

Re: Need advice on moving from canton FR to canton BE

Thanks for your inputs. Well yes I'm aware of the tax difference.
But he problem is German speaking FR is not so wide and mostly remote areas. There are less activities for kids going around and since we both are working would like to have more options which works out of office hours.
Thats why I wanted some advice to see if its worth spending more taxes if we move to some Bern area eg: Köniz.
