Lock was broken - locksmith - Gerance will pay me back?

Hi everyone,

I posted before that I was having problems with my gerance (Flat not ready on moving in day).

Today I got home from work and my key wasn't working in the lock. I assumed it was because they had changed the cylinder (it was a temporary cylinder, due to the old one being broken) but it turned out it was just broken.

I went to the concierge and he called a locksmith (the one that the gerance uses). He came by and had to drill the lock and put a new one which cost 250.- that I had to pay, and the concierge & locksmith said that the gerance will pay me if I go there tomorrow...

I had no other option as I needed to get into my apartment, but is it right that the gerance pays this? I didn't force or damage the lock at all, it was probably just because it was a bad quality temporary lock and they didnt replace it with a permanent one yet.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks

They have to pay:
- They messed it up. <-- This is the most important one.
- Lock is considered as part of the apartment (just like wall, floor, loo etc.).
- It is most likely over the small repair threshold anyway. (check your contract as you will need this information for future possible repairs.)

Thanks.

I went to the gerance and indeed they told me they will pay me back or I take it out of my next rent payment.

All the best
