Moving-out cleaning

I've just had a quote to clean my apartment before I move out. It's not a huge apartment (140m2), nor is it particularly unclean.

1500CHF. For half a day's work?

Is that normal in Switzerland? I'd expected to pay perhaps 30 CHF per hour, but not this.

Re: Moving-out cleaning

I doubt a final cleaning is only half a day of work... Or if it is, there's at least 4 persons doing it!

Re: Moving-out cleaning

For my 90 sqm apartment I had quotes for 900 CHF so yes, these are the prices here. I will just do it myself

Re: Moving-out cleaning

This is the Swiss business model.
Cleaning firm overcharges you but will deal with the landlord. Deal with the landlord yourself and it may cost you more than the SFr. 1500. If you clean yourself, you are depriving someone of an income.
Get a couple of more quotes, all with a guarantee of them dealing with the hand-over.

4 people at 40 an hour for 8 hours....1280
Cleaning products can range from 60 to 150 depending on what is needed. Almost all end of contract cleanings are done at the end or beginning of the month. So their business is limited to maybe 10 days of working. 10 days at 320 a day is 3200 per month. Below any survivable amount one would need to exist here. And that work comes with the guarantee if they aren't perfect in their job they don't get paid. I can't think of any other field operating under those conditions.
But hey...outrageous to pay people anything monthly one would make themselves.

Re: Moving-out cleaning

It would take me alone 3 days to clean your apartment properly. Why not do it yourself? I always do.

140m2 IS a large apartment.
30 CHF an hour is unrealistic. I would expect (hope) that the cleaner's wage is at the least 25 CHF, then are the other costs and overheads to keep the business going.
