Advice for moving & cleaning company

Hello people
I am planning our move for December and am looking to get some advice about moving and cleaning companies.

Who had a good experience and could recommend a company?

Man thanks

It's doable but you have to be aware of the very high standard that is expected and the fact that absolutely everything needs to be spotlessly clean.

There are a few threads on it here.

Thanks very much for your advice.

I've checked the threads and contacted the recommended companies- their quotes seem to differ much from one another, which is very surprising.
I see a lot of very good reviews of the company called Total -Reinigung - has anyone used them recently and can tell me more about the standards they represent?
We have an awful & rude Swiss landlady and she'll not hesitate to make the handover a real hell

Re: Advice for moving & cleaning company

I recently had a very good experience with the following company.

How they got the calcium build-up off my bathroom window without eating through the glass is still a mystery.

Clean-Service Scaramuzzo AG

price was very competitive

Re: Advice for moving & cleaning company

I actually did it myself very recently. I had some friends who helped me clean and I also hired someone to help with all the windows (found through this forum. She was great! Let me know if you want details). We lived in two floors of a very old house.

I also made sure I had someone from the Mieterverband there at the handover and I would highly recommend you do this, whether you get a cleaning company or not. In the end I had no problems at all and ended up paying for some very obvious scratches on the floor and a couple of other small things.

I spent a long time beforehand researching how to fix lots of little things that had gone wrong over the six years we there and I religiously read all the threads on Englishforum about how to make everything ready for the handover.

Nearly killed me, though! Was wiped out for a whole week afterwards!!

Tildaoz,

Thanks very much for the advice. Can you drop me a pm with the details of the window cleaning person? I think we may need their jej. Especially with the shutters. Otherwise I'll follow your advice and sign up last minute with Mietverband. Hoping that they can come and keep the crazy landlady at bay.

They are there to make sure your rights are enforced. But if your place is still not up to the cleaning standard of the landlady, it still has to cleaned. With a cleaning company that offers a guarantee, even if they are more money, it's all in their hands. You don't need additional people along and they negotiate directly with the landlord. Having the Mietrverband along doesn't guarantee anything.

Dear confloozed,

That's pretty obvious - we don't intend to leave a messy flat and and rely on Mietverband agent to defend us on front of the landlady. However, the cleaning companies seem to be in no great rush to provide quotes so we may just do it ourselves.
I don't expect the cleaners to discuss the flat state with the landlady - it's not their job I suppose. Since our German is insufficient. Mietverband seems to be what we need. We have no concerns about the state of the flat but awe do have concerns about the landladys attitude. This is why we may need help.
Thanks for all your advice though.

Re: Advice for moving & cleaning company

I have moved a few times within the Zurich area since arriving in Switzerland. For my last move I used Welti-Furrer. They were a bit more expensive than the other quotes I received but they had a great reputation among my Swiss colleagues. They packed my entire flat and handled the entire move with the quote in line with the estimates. All in all they were very professional and my move was as smooth as possible.

As for the move out clean, I used Zurich Cleaning. They spoke English well and attended the move out appointment with me. We had a very in depth inspection with the only follow up action being that I needed to hire a specialist to come clean out inside of the chimney. (Despite having only lived in the apartment for a matter of months and using the fireplace a grand total of 1 time.) Their rates were the lowest of the quotes I received and they were able to work quickly.

We used Total Reinigung in March 2015 and they were the cheapest by far, easy to deal with, and we had no problems with the handover (we also had a picky landlord). I would definitely recommend them and use them again if we had another move planned.

Moved from Switzerland to Thailand with Kehrli+Oeler AG and was super happy with their service. They offer "the entire package"

Maybe they are not the cheapest but prbly one of the most professionals...

Hey,

Just to let you all know - we ended up cleaning by ourselves and it went perfect! A pretty laboursome process but the landlady was very content. So. Yes, it's possible to diy.
On a side note- we had a very negative experience with the VIV cleaning company ( which cleaned the flat we were moving into) so if you think of hiring them, drop me a message for a few words of warning.

So that's at least two people who have managed to clean better than a "professional" cleaning company.

The place we moved into (new) was cleaned in such a bad way that when the architect said he'd get them back, my wife said "No way, they've done enough damage already).
So we ended up cleaning the place we moved out of and we the place we moved into.
