Re: Lost my job. Can my landlord evict me with no reason?

We have seen many posts here where people have lost their jobs and are trying to get out of a rental contract and how difficult it is to do so. So just imagine how difficult it is for a landlord to try to terminate a contract.

Eviction requires cause.

If I were the landlord my only concern would be that the tenant was able to pay the rent.

You are not obligated to tell the landlord why you are home but if he asks I would not lie. Just say that you are between jobs. As long as you have the means to continue to pay the rent and do so there should be no cause for concern.

A huge no of UK employed people, especially in London are in recipe of housing benefit / Tax credits, The recipient does not have a duty to inform you.
I know they do not. And I don't want to know if they are. (p.s. not London, my house is actually affordable to a normal single wage household)
