What are my rights as a tenant?

Hello,

I moved to a new Appartment, Unfortunetly the faucet in bathroom and kitchen are really full of rust inside when I opened the faucet to clean there are black things from faucet coming out. I think it causes the faucet since its full of rust.
Same as in the shower do I have any rights to ask them to renovate or change it? because they even increased the price.

Thanks in advance

Okay, when did you move in? You have ten working days to draw the letting agency's attention to anything wrong that you'd possibly missed during the handover procedure.
If it's longer than that then such problems will come under general maintenance and although the letting agents are still responsible for fixing them you might be responsible for paying a (usually small) contribution towards the repair costs. Check your contract, this should be mentioned there.
DO NOT arrange by yourself for a handyman to do any repairs, as this leaves you liable for the entire bill, always go through your letting agents... which means you have to co-operate with either being in/leaving a key with your concierge to allow reasonable access to do work.

Join ASLOCA asap. They're the renters association and are there to help you through this kind of problem. Costs ~ chf90 a year and are well worth every penny of that. Can't do the link from my iPad but Google will give you the link.

Re: What are my rights as a tenant?

If you are in the German-speaking part of the country, the tenant's association is called the Mieterverband. I agree that they're worth every penny, I highly recommend joining. They'll give you legal advice on your rights, help you write letters, etc.

Probably just need to run the water, if no one has lived there for a few months then rusty brown water is not unusual. This happens in holiday homes all the time.

Have you actually informed the letting agency about these things yet?
