Zürich to Stäfa - Pros and Cons

We live in Zürich city where we have been for 13 plus years.
We are now looking to move to an apartment in Stäfa, parking garage permitting!
Not really knowing Stäfa, we were wondering if anyone on EF lives there and can tell us what it's like to live in and what there is to do.
Many thanks.

Re: Zürich to Stäfa - Pros and Cons

The village is nice. The roads are narrow in the older parts as with every old town center here. Residential yards can be just as tiny, but since you will live in an apartment, it isn't an issue. I think it's an affluent village.

The best is to drive over and see for yourself if you like it or not.

I don't live there, but I have visited and can tell you that it is a delightful place, if a little quiet.

Popular activities include looking at the puffins, admiring the Colonnade, and visiting Fingal's Cave. It is possible to get there by boat, although landing at the stage near Am Buachaille is only possible in the calmest conditions.

I wish you the very best of luck!

If you have small kids, or a pregnant family member, check if the train station has ramp/level access - and trains with level access too... It's a pain to have to lift a pram with child up and down a lot of stairs...

Should add. I love Stäfa. Pity my workplace is on the other side of the lake...

Re: Zürich to Stäfa - Pros and Cons

Many thanks for all your quick messages.

We viewed apartment this afternoon, so only briefly drove through Stäfa on the way up to the property. We know Stäfa has all the normal Migros, Coop, Denner etc, and the S7 takes 20 minutes or so to get to Stadelhofen, so not exactly the end of the world.
At present we live in a convenient but (in my opinion!) a not so nice part of Zürich.
Convenience or locality, which is better?

Fingal's Cave! lol, i am talking about moving to Stäfa, not Staffa! Jesus that really is at the end of the world!

Re: Zürich to Stäfa - Pros and Cons

I live in Stäfa, it's a great town but it will be quiet in relation to Zurich!

If you've got any questions, please send me a PM.

Re: Zürich to Stäfa - Pros and Cons

Many thanks for your message English Rose.

Stäfa, although a lovely flat and area, for us is abit too far away from Zürich.
Although the pros far outweighed the cons, the few cons were much bigger!

We are now looking at some flats on the Zollikerberg as it's still close to Zürich, but far enough out to be greener and quieter, plus i hear there are quite a few expats there.

So hopefully all going well, we shall soon be residents of the Zollikerberg!

Many thanks.
