Wallisellen Vs Wildpark Höfli, any advice?

At first, it seemed like a no-brainer. We submitted applications for two apartments and got accepted for both. The first is in Wallisellen - ' 3.5 zimmer 'with a new kitchen and close to transport links and the Glatt shopping centre. The second is in Wildpark Höfli, the stop before Langnau Gattikon on the S4 and very close to the free Tierpark. This one is a '4.5 zimmer'and it is about three minutes walk from the station. I fell in love with the second apartment on sight, it is in a lovely area etc etc But now, I am less sure about what to do and which apartment to select. As my name rather gives it away, I am of Indian origin as is my husband. Our child speaks better German (Schweizer Deutsch) than we do and while we have done our very best to respect and follow Swiss customs during our time here, we are quite identifiably 'auslanders', for more than one obvious reason. Since we have started talking to our friends and even our current landlady about our predicament, everyone has uniformly advised that we should select the property in Wallisellen on the grounds that we are more likely to be accepted there and our son is more likely to fit into the local school.

So, does anyone have any advice on this issue? Can you tell me anything about schooling in Wallisellen versus Wildpark Höfli (Langnau)? Is there likely to be a marked difference in quality? I have been told that in areas with a greater immigrant population (people like me!) schooling is more patchy. Does this ring any bells for anyone? Social amenities in both of these areas ( i.e Hallenbad, children's activities)? Attitude towards auslanders ?

Thank you ever so much! We have until Monday to make our decision!

A vote for Wildpark Höfli (Langnau) here because I'm not a fan of Wallisellen. I've been there enough times for Lidl and Glatt and, even when the sun's out, it feels dark there. I rejected a few apartments near the Eisstadium at Oerlikon because the were in the shadow of the hill.

Your son already speaks Schweizer Deutsch, so you have a way into the local scene, and you're clearly doing something right to be accepted for two apartments. I don't know Wildpark Höfli, but you're reasonably close to Sihl City for shopping.

Where I was raised in the U.K., the only black and Asian kids I met were first or second generation British with professional parents. It was only in the cities where I met first and second generation kids who'd grown up in a mainly immigrant suburb, and the difference between them and my childhood friends was incredible. That has to be your choice, but your boy could end up being the only child of Indian parents in a school full of kids with Turkish, Albanian, etc...parents. What I'm trying to say is your son could still end up being in a minority of one, the only difference could be the skin colour of the other kids.

What do they mean by "fit into the local school."? I think children are used to foreigners and would not be racist or anything.
Regarding schooling quality is something that is not much discussed in switzerland (the opposite being the US) because it's generally the same quality. If it is discussed it's because in one school there may be more "social case" kids who will disrupt classes sometimes and encourage smoking or keep the teachers more occupied, and this would apply more likely to a neighborhood with social housing and more people of immigrant background.

A vote for Wallisellen. I live there and love it. Good connections to Zurich, airport, other destinations, Coop/Migros/Denner and more importantly, nice neighbours and friendly people and lots of other "foreigners" I think in our building we have already 6 nationalities.

Feel free to pm if you want more info
