Sofa/ Design your own Sofa

Thanks to everyone who responded to my previous mattress topic, we have now found hopefully the perfect mattress and next step is a sofa! I've looked at the furniture stores posted on the previous topic but not found anything we liked.

Are there any online stores where you can design your own? In the UK we have sites such as sofa.com and loaf.com where you can pick a model, size, shape, color, fabric etc.

I'm finding most sofas here very angular and 'clean lines' looking where as we would like a cosy, fluffy, comfy sofa with lots of cushions.

We would ideally like a very large corner sofa with a sofa bed, but if we can't find that two large 3-4 seaters with one of them being a sofa bed.

Here are a few examples:

http://loaf.com/products/atticus-corner-sofa

http://loaf.com/products/cloud-corner-sofa-bed

Does any one know of something similar here or seen sofas in that style?

Our budget is flexible for the right sofa.

Thank you!!!

You should have stayed in London, apartments are furnished gym clubs are ultra swish, cheap with latest equipment, good mattresses are cheap, super sized and box sprung and they make sofa's according to your design.

What the hell you doing here in this total backwater ?

If it really is that important for you, although as you have already said somewhere the place you are furnishing is not for ever, why don't you get it made in London and have it shipped over with your personnel effects, the GBP is low, you get 20% VAT back, where can you go wrong ?

Some one is grumpy I'm so sorry you have a problem with people asking for advice! What is this forum for?

We plan on staying here a while so yes it would be nice to get furniture we both want and unfortunately I am new to Zurich and don't speak the language so I don't know where the furniture stores are or what the best websites are and am simply asking for advice.

If someone from Zurich moved to London and asked me for advice on furniture, sporting facilities or anything I could help them with I would! Rather than telling them to go back to where the came from...

Such bizarre behaviour from adults.

And that is an option yes, but delivery times mean we would have to wait 8 weeks at least so it would be nice to find a sofa we like here. I'm sure we can, if we just knew where to look

You're coming over in January....

If you want something nice you usually have to wait as nice stuff off the peg doesn't really exist, if it's nice it gets sold quickly so you make your decision, and wait for a little, 8 weeks is nothing.

All you have done so far is moan and complain, comparing everything to London, like this you won't last long here, or anywhere else outside your little comfort zone

I said I'm currently living between Zurich and London and that I start my Job in January. Im currently here 3-4 days per week and in London 3-4 days per week. My partner has already been in Zurich for a month. We are moving into our apartment on Saturday and 8 weeks is a pretty long time to be without a sofa, but of course we will wait if we have to, I just don't think we necessarily do.

We bought a good mattress here thats arriving on Friday and that was all thanks to the advice I received from nice people on this forum.

I have not complained about anything, except rude people on this website. I don't see asking for help, advice and information as complaining.

I'm not sure you will find what you want here.
Delivery on a custom sofa or indeed most furniture made-to-measure can be a couple of months, even if local.

This place across the border in Konstanz has sofas which may be what you want but they don't have a website as such, just an online shop walk-around on their website.

Someone may be along who knows the answer to your question, but don't pay any mind to the occasional troll. It isn't worth it.

Re: Sofa/ Design your own Sofa

I don't really find it that funny coming back to my topics only to be told that I'm a yuppie with a short attention span, or that I should go back to where I came from, or that i think in something special because i want a super king bed.

Its just all a bit annoying and I've had enough thank you.

Not sure if you already found a sofa. I do not buy furniture on line as I like to sit in what I am actually buying.

On of our sofas is from Germany. With this particular manufacturer you can order in many configurations. We went to Moebel Dogern.

Thanks, we actually ended up for doing for this one we liked in the interio store. You could choose the colour you wanted and the pieces you wanted and it was super comfy!

Most furniture has now been bought, or at least the essentials

Re: Sofa/ Design your own Sofa

Wait, we are supposed to be impressed by fabric sofas from Interio? I refuse to sit on a sofa that isn't leather and from Pfister. :-)

A bit more on topic, though maybe late for this particular questioner, I had great* results ordering custom sized furniture from masstisch.de - it started when I wanted a round table of a particular size and material. The build quality of that first piece pleased me enough that I ordered a few more things from them. It is nice having pieces of furniture that weigh more than I do. I don't have experience with their sofas, but you can customize quite freely (e.g. masscouch.de) and on the strength of previous experience I might well give them a shot when/if I'm next in the market for one.

*By great I mean that the build quality was great. The listed price included shipping, assembly and Swiss customs. There was a lead time, (c/a 6 weeks I think) but this was stated up front and perhaps unavoidable when you want something built to your measurements - as opposed to yet another identical box from a cargo ship.

Re: Sofa/ Design your own Sofa

When we searched for sofa we also need it asap. 8-10 weeks was out of question.

https://www.wohnhalle.ch/ location Baar

http://moebel-gallati.ch/ location Sihlbrugg (short drive apart)

- we liked lots of models in these 2 shops and they where selling some of their display models. So with a bit of luck you might find your dream sofa in the size you want.

Wasn't trying to impress you, just glad we found one we like

I'm not a huge fan of leather sofas, somehow find fabric comfier, but that's just personal preference.
