Help declaring taxes for cleaning lady canton Zurich

Hi forum,
Does anyone know what to do to declare taxes / be insured while hiring a cleaning lady? In Schaffhausen it was pretty straightforward just had to fill some forms, but now we are in Winterthur and I don't know where to start and where to look. And before someone says it - not declaring it / "black money" is not an option

Thanks!
ValeC

Why do you think it would be much different in Winterthur? Contact your cantonal tax office and ask.

Well firstly because I don't know what cantonal office to contact and that's what I was asking about. In schaffhausen the putzfrau gave us the forms to fill.
If you do have actual knowledge please share it.
Thanks

Re: Help declaring taxes for cleaning lady canton Zurich

Actually, I believe Medea is incorrect. Although Winti tax people might direct you to the right place

You need to contact SVA Zurich (if your cleaner lives in zurich)

I'll look around for my paperwork - i've done it this year.

Basically, you fill out a form so they enter you in the database as an employer, you give them the gross wages and they send you a bill for the tax.

Because you are paying taxes for your cleaner, I believe you pay taxes for the cleaner based on her/his kanton of residence.

Here's a link to get started....i will look around for my stuff.

I searched on sva zurich hausarbeit

Re: Help declaring taxes for cleaning lady canton Zurich

thanks Medea, but it'sall in a language I can't speak.

I guess I have to edit my original question as follows
Anyone has declared a cleaning lady in Canton Zurich before and can tell me what the steps are? Will I need a formal contract? Do I just call the tax department and pray that someone speaks English?

If it wasn't clear - I was hoping for some help and directions and personal experiences.

Re: Help declaring taxes for cleaning lady canton Zurich

Thanks edot, that's what I was looking for. I fill the form and declare the wages.
Did you have to do a formal contract with the cleaning lady for it? Or was the declaration enough? Also, do you declare once a quarter / year or every time?
Very last question - in schaffhuasen this form meant we were covered for insurance, I guess is the same here?

Thx a lot!

Re: Help declaring taxes for cleaning lady canton Zurich

I did my declaration once for 2015. haven't done anything for 2016.

I hired my cleaner via quitt.ch. - i pay chf 45 per year for the lowest level of service and they give me a good deal on insurance, but i file my own taxes. Quitt was helpful for me because I didn't know how much to set aside for taxes and they have sample contracts, salary calculators, etc.

For 120chf a year plus 5% of salary quitt will do all the paperwork for you, you just pay the bill. I have only one person working for me and I figured I should learn how to do this. I do have a formal contract, taken from the quitt site.

So if it sounds like i half know what I'm doing, that's correct.

That sounds good. Much cheaper than an agency - will look into it. I had the same set up in the US for the nanny with an agency helping with payroll and calculations.
Thanks a bunch!

I read a few days ago about a "simplified" administrative procedure for employing people for a few hours a week. (ger: ) http://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/wirtscha...story/24262749
Maybe (with Google Translate, if necessary) you can get something useful out of it.

The thing I like about quitt is that I'm doing the legal thing with a bit of help and the cleaner gets the money not an agency. The advantage of an agency is that presumably, you always have some one in case of illness or vacation.
