How noisy is Bassersdorf?

Hello englishforums!

We're a family of three and are currently considering renting in Bassersdorf. One concern is of course the airplane noise. How loud and frequent is it? Is it louder than in Wallisellen or Dubendorf?

We're torn between lower Altstetten and Bassersdorf. We love outdoors but also enjoy being able to do basic shoppings without using the car. Any opinions / experiences would be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

I live in Bassersdorf, The airplane noise does not bother me at all.
You would get used to it in no time. It ain't very loud.

I live bang in the center of Bassersdorf. Coop Migro, Post office (see google maps) and banks are extremely close by. Anywhere else , and you'd need to use a cycle/little walk/car.

Have no idea about Altstetten , sorry.

I dunno ,I wish I was living somewhere closer to a lake, more parks(just 1 lame-ish kids-park here)

Wallisellen depends on where you live. Normally where I live only flights early in the morning, rest of the day pretty quiet (one loud midday flight though). But then I work during the day and in the evening I am not bothered by the flights (actually do not hear them anymore)

Can't comment on Bassersdorf noise - I live a little down the road near Volketswil and it's fine (think we're just outside the take-off route so we don't get the noise).

Regarding Altstetten: avoid - it's a shithole.

Thanks for all the replies.

We viewed the new blocks in lower Altstetten on Rautistrasse. They look pretty good and the area not so bad, especially towards Albisrieden it's very nice, lots of kids.

I would second that, the area more towards Albisrieden, off Rautistrasse is really nice where you have the Bachwiesen Community Centre, big play area for kids and a nice stream running through it.

And going up the hill towards the Uetliberg there's also Buchlern playing fields and tennis courts, as well as a kids play park (with zip line!).

I lived in Altstetten for over 15 years, its Zurich city than a suburb which matters to some people, in-spite of the higher taxes. 3 M Migros, a CooP, Aldi & Leitsipark so plenty of shopping on foot if thats what you want.
