Boiler Maintenance in single family home

Recently quoted chf 870 for an annual service for a Weisshaupt gas boiler:
chf 500 for the boiler service,
chf 200 for a "wartungsfirma" inc verschalung(?) and cleaning of the boiler block(?)
chf 28 for chimney sweep
chf 80 for installation.
plus VAT

Is that normal for an annual service? Seems a lot but then, well, Switzerlanded.

Re: Boiler Maintenance in single family home

I tend to pay between 300-400 when I have to call my man out, but that's usually for a problem with our old boiler, not a service. 28 for the chimney is cheap, but what installation did he do? My chimney sweep is 126.

Those seem a bit high.

Not sure what they mean by "installation", and the flue doesn't normally need sweeping with gas. Usually it is a stainless tube and needs at best checking that the grate is intact, and that the trap at the bottom isn't full of condensate or such.

iirc we paid something like 300/year for ours, but that also included a parts insurance cost.

Re: Boiler Maintenance in single family home

The annual service here is 750.- a year.

Seems a bit steep to me, the unit is only a few years old and the guy's only here for about an hour or so. TIS

Re: Boiler Maintenance in single family home

To give you an idea, with a furnace installed in 2014:

We pay about 500 for our yearly service and call-out guarantee. That includes the annual cleaning and testing, as well as the cost of call-out labor should there be a problem. I *think* parts might be included as well, but I could be wrong. That guarantee runs for 5 years, after which we will pay about the same, CHF 500, for yearly cleaning and testing. Parts and labor for any call-outs or additional servicing would be extra at that point.

The annual chimney sweep is done by another firm, the one sent by the Gemeinde. I have no idea what that costs, but I suspect not much, likely under 200 - other wise I would remember.

Re: Boiler Maintenance in single family home

annual service for me varies between 145 and 175 depending upon the exact service required. Boiler is only 3 years' old though.

He is very local; located <1km away. I would recommend trying to find a local one first. It keeps their cost and effort down if they don't have to travel, and it is a more attractive piece of long term business for them.
