OH reckons security lights just help burglars see better.

Sorry if it's already been covered - haven't followed recently - but saw this article this morning and this thread came-to-mind.

there is even legislation about it:
- needs to be switched off at 22:00 until the first advent
- or until 01:00 after the first advent

Only in Möhlin AG. Other cantons, other towns, other rules.

aargh call the cops - our lights came on at 5am instead of 5pm as OH didn't notice the timer is 24 hour when he plugged them back in yesterday after playing with his chainsaw.

Ah, so that was you was it?!

Just come home after spending a few nights at #2 son's place.... and was woken up early every morning by git neighbour's flashing horror display directly opposite the bedroom window. Even with the blinds down the room lit up like a ruddy lighthouse.

Figuratively and physically I was in Misery!

It could have been worse, he could have mistakenly plugged the chainsaw into the timer instead of the lights, and woken the district to the scene of a your garden being given a short back and sides at the crack of dawn...

Not guilty your Honour. Just today. I noticed it didn't come on at the right time last night but it was cold, dark & below freezing so I was not going out in my pjs to see why.

Read this and was reminded of this thread: http://www.20min.ch/schweiz/bern/sto...thurn-12778096

Synposis: some eco-freak destroyed neighbors' christmas lights because these were supposedly using up too much electricity and were bad for the environment. Nice as they were, they left a candle to use instead. Cough cough. Idiots.

Oh, yes.... brilliant idea. A very quick google search of 'candle destroys house' brings up several horror stories, including this one.

Not to mention that candles probably aren't that much better for a whole bunch of other reasons, aside from the risk of burning the house down :p (I happen to love candles, but I'm just saying...)
