Wash card has gone missing and now I have a house full of relatives visiting. Help!

At the moment I have 6 adults (Family visiting for Christmas) and the baby in the house and somehow I have managed to lose the wash card!
Tomorrow is the card loading day and I will try to ask for a new card but my German is still pretty bad and they have been far from friendly in the past. My husband would normally be around to help out language wise but he's travelling for work. If all goes well I'll hopefully be able to do washing a few days after Christmas but In the mean time i'm stuck with poopy baby clothes and 6 adults worth of washing!
I'm fine with washing undies and essentials in the shower with me, but I thought i'd ask here to see if anyone has any helpful ideas that I might not have thought of
I may load up some bags and take a trip into one of the Zurich waschsalons.
My other thought was maybe renting a semi-nearby cheapo airbnb place for a day with a washer and dryer as it seams like the prices would be similar to a waschsalon.
Any other suggestions?

Do you know any of your neighbours? Will they let you borrow theirs if you pay the typical wash costs?

Kindly ask your neighbor if you could use their washcard and give them some money in return?

Do you have a car? If so, come to mine to do the laundry, we aren't sooo far away

If you send me a PM with your details I can call for you. I deal with property managers and landlords all the time.

Under Brugg Bahnhof there is a dry cleaning shop which had just started a semi washing service. There is a photo of a big washing bag and they charge per kilo.
Seemed a bit pricey, but much cheaper than their dry cleaning rates. Maybe ok for a bag of glad rags for a party and do the rest in the shower until you get your card sorted.
Just a few minutes from Windisch
Otherwise, perhaps you could try the launderettes in Waldshutt? They used to be much cheaper - but this was a few years ago

Order a new one from your Verwaltung. 40-45chf.
Then if the old one turns up ( as it did with me) you'll always have a backup!

I sent a PM to the OP but no reply so I guess she sorted the problem out.

Thanks jbrady for the tip about the place in Brugg.

I had no idea there was a laundromat in Waldshut. That would be much closer for me.

Until then someone washes happily on her account.

Crossing the border with a trunk full of dirty laundry might be a first for customs. Returnin with it all washed ... wonder if that costs MWSt?

I never got pulled up for cross border laundering.

Just out of interest - what is the difference between a Wäscherei and Wäschsalon?

Is a Wäscherie more of an industrial laundry? Or does a Salon offer more services?

The one I used to go to many years ago in Waldshutt does not seem to appear on a google search. Must check it out - there seems to be another in Tiengen though.

I think it is the best idea. They are oblidged to issue a new one. Ok, it can take some time and few money, but it is required to solve the problem anyway. It is really unconvenient every time to move out to look where it ispossible to wash the clothes (((

Just a quick headsup:
This thread is about laundering, well, laundry not money.

With a Wäscherei you bring the dirty clothes and collect them cleaned, ironed, etc a few days later. Typically done with particularly difficult pieces that require non-standard cleaning. Somebody else does all the work.

A Waschsalon is a room full of dryers and laundry machines that are open for your and anybody else's use, for a fee of course. You do all the work yourself.

Our neighbours aren't really the neighbourly type, some are downright weird (and not the fun kind!)

Thanks for the offer! Sorry I hadn't replied sooner, everytime I sat down to type the baby needed something
My husband wrote out a couple of sentences for me asking for a new wash card and if they had anything we could use in the mean time (not their problem I know but it can't hurt to ask!)
They should give us a new one the only issue that might arise is that this would be the second one they have given, the first one stopped working within a month so maybe they will say there is a limit? I will find out tonight though
If I have any trouble following that I would love to take you up on your offer if its still on the table!

Edit:Someone please feel free to combine all these replies I have no idea how to!
