Cost of house moving

Hi,

I'm wondering how much it can cost to rent a company to move furnitures - not far, around 2km. Standard furnitures like sofa, bed, wardrobes. I know you pay usually per hour, so how long it might take?
Maybe it's more worth to sell them and buy new ones on the new apartment?

Thanks!

I currently looking for a moving company myself (dist. ~ 5km). So far I've got few quotes 800-1500 CHF.
In order to get more exact quote you need to have a termin with company rep. Thats what I'm currently trying to arrange for myself.

What is included in this price? How about disassembling all furnitures and assembling it in the new apartment?

It was included. I've wrote to few companies which were recommend here.
But I've also tried top-offerten.ch - you post there & all companies send you their quotes.
I'm also planing post on the movu.ch.

So far the cheapest quote I've got was ~750-950 from Zuri Transport.

Re: Cost of house moving

Not your area.. But as an idea, I moved a few hundred meters .. Partial disassembly/Reassembly of furniture, no packing of little things or clothes etc, we did that... 3 men, 2 vans, 7am -- 13pm approx.. 5 bedroom 2nd floor apartment with lift, approx 70 boxes, .. Moving to a ground floor. 900chf. This was the quote and no change on the day.

I rounded it up to 1000 and the guys were very happy ..

Ahhh, but then that is a completely different story than just a regular house move!

Re: Cost of house moving

there are online tools (don't want to mention their name here as it may not be allowed) where you can list your new address and create an inventory of things to be transported. You can even send them a video of your flat and they will create an inventory list for you and you get offers from different companies. That's what I did recently.

We paid 500 for having a piano delivered, 20km, including the cost of the piano.

(1968 Burger & Jacobi, Swiss built)

And then 160 to have someone check and tune it, who then told us that it's actually worth several k.

Re: Cost of house moving

What floor and is there a lift?

When we looked for quotes this was a big factor.

In the end we borrowed a truck and did it ourselves with help from friends - cost me a bunch of takeaway pizzas, a few bottles of wine, and some favours owed.

Re: Cost of house moving

We moved twice in the last year and used the same company both times. We paid 1700.- all in each time, including disassembly/assembly of furniture. We also tipped the guys 200.- (team of 4) and a couple of beers. They arrived at 8 and were finished at the new address by mid afternoon. The boss came round and made an estimate beforehand, based on how many truckloads. Both times we moved less than 10km.

i moved from basel to zurich, did the dismantle and the assembling of the furniture by myself, had 14 boxes, bags with clothing and the furniture.
Had one person( driver), did the transport to and from the LKW by myself except the large parts of the furniture.
Paid 700 sfr (1 hour drive, 1.5 hours loading and 1 hour unloading), needed 4 Hours to assemble the furniture and unpack the boxes.
Live in a 1.5 room flat, 40 sqm
