Hi
I'm soon moving from the Zurich -> Zollikerberg.
Can I still use Zuri-Sack in Zollikerberg or what is the system there ? |

Zollikon (as well as Zollikerberg) aren't using official trash bags, but rather stickers that can (and have to) be put onto generic trash bags.
It's the worse version of payment for trash for sure.
You probably can sell any remaining Zürisäcke to a neighbour (obviously at a little discount ) - then you buy generic trash bags, and stickers for them. http://www.zollikon.ch/de/aktuelles/...object_id=8785 |

Thanks I've checked the link you've gave.
So are those "Gebührenmarken" have some limit depending on volume or smth.?
Or I can just buy one & stick it on the 50l trash bag ?
And are there any requirement for "generic trash bags" ?
Why is it "...the worse version of payment for trash..." ?
Thanks !!!

1 Gebührenmarke for a regular 35l bag, half one - I suppose you can separate them properly - for the small 17l bags, 2 Marken for the 60l bags (ie, not a good deal ), 3 Marken for the 105l bags http://www.zollikon.ch/dl.php/de/200...ebhren2009.pdf
Point 2.2
Assuming a 50l bag will be running under the "60l" category, it will take 2 Marken.
Also, check weight limits (I suppose they don't really check that very carefully, so 6kg in a regular 35l won't get noticed..)
The thing is, you'll pay 16 CHF for 10 Marken, and on top of that, you've to buy the bags itself. It's more expensive than the system in Zurich (or most other towns) where you buy the bags including the fee.
Plus, you better always remember to put that sticker (Marke) on it - cause of you forget it, they will fine you.

They go through the trash looking for any documents (mail, bills, receipts) that can identify the trash owner.
If you are smart, never throw away anything that may identify you.

There is practically zero risk that the Marken will peel off. I've lived in a "Marken" area before, and I never ever heard about this happening to anyone. Plus, the glue is designed that if someone would rip it off, it would destroy the Marke (so no, there aren't any thieves running around peeling Marken off)

So I guess I can use any trash bag (like cheap one from aliexpr) as long as I put a Marken on it ?

For privacy concerns, its of course perfectly understandable to destroy personal data. Maybe I'm still a bit too careless in this regard, but I really feel that if someone wants to abuse my personal data, he won't be stopped from not finding anything in my personal trash
Yes, you can use any trash bag you want as long as it's basically the sizes stated. A good quality trash bag that you can squeeze in more might be a better investment, though. Personally, I use the small 17l bags in summer (so the trash doesn't get time to smell) and regular 35l in winter (when I can store it outside on the balcony when it's full but still another generic plastic bag can be squeezed in)

Totally agree with you - if someone really wants to dig some info, they will, no matter how well you protect your privacy
Thanks for all your answers, you really helped me |

Hi,
I just moved to Zollikon and, being my German really bad, I do not understand what is the procedure for organic waste if any.
Can anyone help?
Cheers

There's the option to do composting, but for this you need to call somebody at the Gemeinde.

Thanks mojado,
my understanding was that there are special stickers for organic waste. I tried to read the "Entsorgungskalender" and they mention something about "Garten- und Küchenabfall" but I still don't get it.
Cheers

You can use a green bin for that (either collect it at home in the green bin or - if you are lucky - there is a place nearby where you can get rid of that.

are you thinking of Grüngutgebührenmarken? Yes, special stickers for kitchen food waste (cooked waste or things that you'd eat uncooked, such as fruit) + garden waste such as grass cuttings, bulbs, dead-ish plants (but not roots of plants, cat litter, tree/hedge trimmings). Look under "Garten und Kuchenabfall" on your Entsorgungskalendar for the size of containers you are allowed to use, and the number of stickers you need for each type.
They won't empty a container with less than 20 litres of waste....so that's a lot of food to throw out. If you are in an apartment, might be worth seeing if the Hauswart can tell you if there is a communal green bin.
Christmas tree can be put put on green rubbish days in January for free.
Stickers are available at places listed here: http://www.zollikon.ch/de/aktuelles/abfall/ |
