Re: How do you keep your house cool?

A few years ago I installed a 7kW (24,000 BTU/h) split system inverter air conditioner, which works very well. If anyone thinking of going the same route has any technical questions I would be pleased to answer them.

It rarely gets very humid here and if it does it's not so hot. It starts to get uncomfortable after about 26C and last year it hit 40C in some places.

The air hose portable a/c units are not very good. You're always mixing the air. The split portable ones are several times better. That's what i have ;-)
"It rarely gets very humid here"

Well yesterday it was 87% in Basel-Stadt, but there again, humidity is always relative.

Best way to keep the house cool is to wait for the next thunderstorm, that is never more than 3 days away.

I find Geneva unbearably humid. Right now my fingers are stuuuuuuuuuck to the keys, my body is stuck to my chair. I'm dripping. And that's all with a fan blasting at me. Fully aware that it is only going to get much much worse as summer progresses past day two!
