Any knows something about Waldegg bei Utikon or Risi (Birmensdorf) area for living?

Hi!

I was wondering if someone knows something about this Wadegg area just below the Uetliberg, near Zürich.

May be, I will take an apartment in this area, but I am a little confused, because is hard to find something about it.

For my commuting to work in Baden is better than my actual flat in Zürich, but if someone has any tips about this area...

Thanks!!

And what about the Risi area In upper Birmensdorf??

If you work in Baden, why not look closer to Baden? There are many nice areas and you will find that rents are far more reasonable than in Zurich. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have lived in Uitikon-Waldegg for 4 years. A very nice location. Many houses have fantastic distant views of the Alps.

It is a wealthy community, i.e. low taxes but high rents and prices.

Depending on where you live, you maybe close to the station and can commute by train to downtown Zurich. Otherwise, there is a shuttle-bus to the station or the postbus to Zurich-Weidikon or Birmensdorf.

Re: Any knows something about Waldegg bei Utikon area for living?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I have to decide between a flat in Risistrasse (Birmensdorf) or in Waldegg.

And I want in this area because I work in Baden and my girlfriend in Zurich Selnau, so this area is quite good for both.

And Goldtop, what about the ambience in Waldegg? I realized that it was quite calm, but may be too mutch??

It is a dormitory village and very very quiet. I lived in the Uitikon part. Some small shops and 1 or 2 restaurants. It had a swimming pool. The Waldegg part is even quieter. The SZU station is in Waldegg.

For fun, suggest you meet your girlfriend in Selnau and amuse yourself in Zurich downtown. You can also ride the train uphill to the Uetliberg, where there is a well known restaurant.

Re: Any knows something about Waldegg bei Utikon area for living?

Thanks for the info.

As I realize, This Waldegg area is realy quiet. Can be to quiet for us. It seems to be only "old" people living there(I am 26)

And 1900chf for a 80 sqm flat... is not cheaper than Zürich center.

May be, I should go for the flat in Risi area(Birmensdorf).

More tips or advices??

Thanks!!

Uitikon-Waldegg is expensive to live. But in Zurich City the taxes are higher. However, if you are taxed at source, then the local tax is irrelevant.

I have no insights into life in Risi. Guess it is cheaper?

No, I am not taxing at source, so this low taxes will be welcome But, Zürich wasn't already a low tax area??

And about Risistrasse... is just a nice community just between Birmensdorf and Waldegg. And as I realized, not cheaper.

But maybe also to quiet...

Click the link, switch to English...

The cantonal tax is regulated by Zurich's Cantonal Law on Direct Taxes of 8 June 1997 (Steuergesetz/StG) and it is levied by Zurich's Cantonal Tax Office. The direct municipal tax is not levied separately, but is rather derived as a percentage (municipal tax factor) of the so-called basic cantonal tax (einfache Staatssteuer) and included as a surcharge on the same tax invoice.

Huh?

You are wrong beyond belief. The source tax rate depends on the tax rate of the community (Gemeinde) you live in.

Thanks for the correction. I was under the impression that foreigners, taxed at source, were taxed at the average rate of the Canton they live in. That would simplify the employer's salary software. Anyway, that is a Cantonal decision and each Canton may use its own algorithm.

The stated % (e.g. Zurich City is 119%) are scaling factors, which are useful to compare communities within a Canton.

Re: Any knows something about Waldegg bei Utikon area for living?

It is almost exact 11 years after the latest post, well

My wife and I together with out little one seriously consider moving up in Uitikon-Waldegg,

We both were quite city birds, but since it became a requirement to have more space, we started our search in ZH city. After 1-2 rejection and saw each visit 30+ candidates , we changed our focus to urban areas, especially Uitikon-Waldegg & Birmensdorf region since iti is closer to work,.

Lets hear if anything developed since 2008
