Orange slip Bill? Super low electricity cost?!

So last night i was at the property i will move into soon. The current tenant/landlord mentioned that the electricity bill was quite low and showed me a small orange ticket stub looking thing with 124 CHF written on it. He said this was his electricity bill for the year. He also said that when i register at the gemeindehaus once i move there, that they will automatically transfer the electricity bill into my name. And that thats all that needs to be done.

NK doesn't include electric but it does heating and water etc.

Does all this seem Legit?

Possible. On the lower side. Do not see anything wrong with it if it is a single person not cooking much or gas stove. Depending on your usage your electricity bill may be higher. I pay 300 CHF. Could be that it is only the quarterly or half yearly bill.

PS: The Gemeinde has nothing to do with the electricity. Normally the landlord will do the switch. You cannot chose an electricity provider but various rates. Depending if you want to support rather nukes, water, or solar and wind power.

For canton Zurich:

Thanks for that aSwissInTheUS. I will check the links out. Although his English is pretty good, there seems to be a lot of miscommunication when we don't have a translator around. I don't know...

Move in, take a note of the meter reading and relax. A bill will come.

Re: Orange slip Bill? Super low electricity cost?!

Depends also if he has solar panels, geothermal heating, etc. That sounds quite low to me for a year, or even a quarter. Difficult for me to judge though as the way my electricity bill works is that I pay a set amount every quarter (269 francs at the moment) and then pay any outstanding amount once the meter's read at the end of the electricity year (early March here).

I read my meter myself each quarter and the lowest I've worked out is 176 francs - end June to end September.

And my bills are only for lighting/electricity useage as I have oil central heating.

Re: Orange slip Bill? Super low electricity cost?!

How big is the place? Seems awfully (unrealistically?) low for a quarter, let alone a full year.
