Moving to Vevey or Lausanne

Hello everyone,

I recently got a great opportunity to start working for a certain food company in Vevey . Currently I live in Amsterdam and as you can imagine its not easy to find something over the internet, especially since I cannot just come over and visit the apartment.
When I went to Vevey for my last interview I really liked it but I can imagine that because of the small size it could get quite static. As well I noticed that English is not really too useful which surprised me coming from the Netherlands.
Could you maybe advice me first of all which kind of websites, apps or groups I can use to effectively find an apartment?
Is it normal to pay a 3 month deposit (coming from a internship this is quite a lot for me as I do not have tremendous savings YET)
Lastly regarding the cities themselves I would not mind living Lausanne and commute to Vevey. Is Lausanne the go to city for expats?

Cheers for your input !

Vevey is cheaper than Lausanne for renting and you'll have no transport costs either.

Very usual to ask for 3 month deposit

Enough people speak English in Vevey, but you would be better learning French, you'll have a far nicer experience than with just English and if you want to hang out with jaded Expats, then you'll never learn French, nor intergrate properly

Thanks for the quick reply. I will definitely keep that in mind.

How is the housing landscape in this area in general. Do I have to be aware of some hidden costs? For example do agencies charge extra fees if I find a room on their website? I ask because that would be something illegal in the Netherlands (as long as you just pick a room that is available on their website already).

Vevey is cute. But you'll be bored quickly.

Lausanne is one of the more interesting cities for going out.
