| | How hard is to rent a flat in Basel?
Hello guys,
Sorry to bother you guys again, but just a simple and maybe silly question that has been bothered me over the last few days... how hard is to find a place to live in Basel Stadt / Land? I mean, is it THAT hard to find a place?
Thanks for your answers in advance!
Cheers! |

Are you after a place with a moat and an orchard?
Finding places to rent in Basel is easy now. Apartments are empty everywhere and rents are coming down. Jobs are being lost. International schools have unprecedented free places for next academic year.

Almost impossible. I think a few EFers have actually expired while trying to find a flat in Basel, but it's hard to tell as the bodies have never been found.

There is an empty flat in this building though and the landlord, so far, has always been happy to give them to people I recommend. However, I'm only wanting friendly, sharing people who can cook well. Ideally cakes/desserts. I'm still angry that Biff moved out.

As FMF says. You know something's up when one looks for work elsewhere but can't find anything paying more than the RAV.

It happened to me about 10 years ago, day rates today are about there they were in 1994 in GBP.

And have known that for so long that even we know your moving day by heart | | | | | I have already started asking, even trying to rent the flat before moving, but all the ones i have contacted they ask me to go and take a look at it (as mandatory), then fill the form and hope for the best... thing is, how "hard" is to get a "no" when you finally get one that you really like
Since I rented an Airbnb for one month, Im just expecting to be on the Airbnb that time and no more |

It depends on your search criteria and employment scenario - we were very lucky both times we moved. The first time, the guy was begging for renters (which we found out was because the place was a dump) and the second time, we took over the place for a friend.
I have had many friends move within Basel with all types of requests and backgrounds, and for each of them, the process has been fairly easy. Good luck!

I heard that it wasn't easy, however I got lucky twice. Just after sending the request I got confirmation and got the appartment.
at first I moved to a furnished appartment for a month. and from there I checked the market and found something quite fast.
It also depends on the area, etc.
good luck!
